So, moving forward to the first topic of the session which is Industry 4.0 & its impact on Cranes. Industry 4.0 is here and it is already impacting your lives. It is helping us improve our deliverables to the world, set emphasis on human safety, better the working conditions, and focus on wellbeing of all around us. The important benefits to the product manufacturers is enabling them to take up the current challenges by becoming more flexible and reacting to changes in the market much easier. Industry 4.0 is very consumer centered, and can increase the speed of innovation which does lead to faster the design processes. Industry 4.0 for crane industry is a game changer and those embracing the technology can reap rich benefits in the future. The benefits are many such as, It can help improve productivity, Improve efficiency, Add value to the products, Enhance customer experience, Promote safety at work place, Reduce ownership & maintenance cost, and also help, Facilitate legal & statutory compliances. Now, with all known advantages the next step is to how to incorporate Industry 4.0 in our product ranges? Let’s talk about few requirements which helps us to incorporate Industry 4.0 in our product range. The first requirement is Connectivity or Connected Equipment. We all know that today data is the new gold. Using analytics on the data collected opens large number of possibility and help in, • Improvising our design, • Improve our sourcing of components used in the equipment, • Predict component failure and proactively alerting the customer to help him reduce downtime of the equipment, • By optimizing maintenance to improve ROI of the equipment, • Understand customer operation in a deeper way enhancing, customer satisfaction. The second one is the Safety. Safety is exigent; it cannot be ignored. Any compromise on safety may lead to an accident and cause loss of reputation, money, life and demoralizes the user of the equipment. Lately there has been a growing thrust on safety by all reputed OEMs and end-customer. The next one is Training, As equipment’s are getting sophisticated and feature rich day by day the user needs to get periodically trained, to get the best out of the equipment & this is a contiguous process. Next is Customer Centric, Today all customers seek value proposition and has become more demanding. Customer retention and Customer delight is an ongoing challenge. And the final one is Improving efficiency and cost reduction, As customer demands are increasing so is the competition. Data logger, By using this feature we can store • event encountered in a crane, • We can store Load Lifting patterns, which is very important to know actual utilization of crane. • Store Error or tripping operation of crane with real time and thus we can understand the behavior of the crane. The Next feature is Event Recorder, This feature will going to record the crane operations like, How many number of times crane or Hoist has been used? How many number of times crane has been trip? Also we can record how many hours hoist operation has been performed with load value for each single operation. This data can be accessed through a Mobile Application developed by Klug Avalon. CAN bus is the one of the communication protocol helps converts analog signals in to Digital and make the system digital. Now this system reduce noise interference or related issued occurred in an analog system, your half problem is resolved which we maximum face with the Analog systems. It has inbuilt feature of Error Detection, This system can able to identify any physical damage, wrong connection or internal malfunction of system and generate the specific Error Code, which helps maintenance person to identify the fault easily and lot of time saving in crane down time. With this system we don’t req. Shielded cable and this way we can eliminate lot of issues related Shielding of cable, Receiving Garbage data or noise related issues. This benefit make CAN bus system very popular amongst the OEM. We can add number of digital sensors, or Digital equipment in a single loop. There is no different controller is required to read each sensor data. Next feature is like a Basic need of any Digital Component. A Connectivity. In today’s world can we survive without connectivity or communication? “NO”, So Wi-Fi, Bluetooth facility is inbuilt available in this digital platform. Using Wi-Fi, you can monitor live data of the crane through application. If we don’t have a Wi-Fi access, we can connect to the system via Bluetooth. When you connect to the system through Bluetooth system will transfer all stored details to the Mobile app and to the server. We can perform number of task with the mobile app, Control the Operation based on the defined logic. There is no need to go up for the Load limiter system calibration, We can view or modify setting of Load calibration through mobile App., Maximum Load capacity etc. We can send customized notifications or Warning messages to the End user, team or concern person via text message or an email. Based on available data, OEM can apply data analytic tools and generate the number of reports, Trend graphs, and Performance curves. This reports help designer to optimize design of crane which is most suitable to the Crane application also able to understand Crane Behavior in specific conditions. Let’s talk about the Safety features of this digital Platform. The first one is Sense Good operation, • This Feature will ensures that the crane cannot be operative without the system active and operative. System will be wired through Sense Good circuitry of system to the crane, so Crane Usage will be always be monitored in all conditions. Also continuously monitor internal system healthiness. The second one is Slack Cut-OFF Function, • This function ensures that the wire rope remains in place on the pulley, even when the hook is lowered and touches the ground level. • Slack Cutoff relay will operate whenever the hook touches ground. And third one is Overload Protection Cut-OFF Function or Fail Safe Mode, • This function ensures load lifting within the rated crane capacity. • Overload Cutoff relay will operate whenever the lifted load exceeds the set Cutoff set point value, thereby ensuring any unsafe operation Also, relay wiring will be in between Pole and NC contact, or • For fail-safe mode Relay is always active & wiring will be between Pole and N.O. contact. So if system has some issue this relay gets deactivate and thus the circuit get disconnect where we have used the Contact of fail-safe relay. • Cutoff Set point value will be user Editable as per requirement. Based on this features of the Digital Platform, Klug Avalon has developed few products, Number one is SMART OLP SYSTEM, means smart overload protection system for crane, and second is Big Display System.
