Romanticism can be seen partly as a reaction to the Industrial Revolution, as well as to the scientific rationalisation of nature in the Age of Enlightenment. Landscape is often prominent in the poetry of this period, and English Romantic poets such as Wordsworth are described as 'nature poets'. The French Revolution in particular exerted an important influence on the political thinking of many of the Romantic poets. One of the important characteristics of the romantic period, where a lot of writers, poets, artists and politicians, was the ideal of escaping or running away from the harsh reality of the early 19th century. Traveling to far away lands, like excotic places, was seen as the big solution of making this ideal true. This was the presentation about the Romantic Period. We hope that you enjoyed it and learnt something. Enjoyed the last bit of this presentation too. Do not ask questions and shut your mouth!
