Hello Doctor !! This is Joydeep Basu from Life Insurance Corporation of India calling you without having anything to sell you at this point of time but have the same question to you which I asked while I was talking to one of the renowned surgeons in Mumbai, who is very known for his orthopedic surgeries, and he owns one of the finest hospitals. Thankfully, I had an appointment for not more than five minutes though, but you understand, how crucial a five-minute appointment is, for a busy surgeon like him. So, during this five-minutes, the one question which came up to me from this respective individual was that he was almost close to fifty-two to fifty-five, and most of his life insurance policies were getting matured over a period of next five or six years. Do I think signing a life insurance policy would make sense to him at that point of time? Of course, I was representing a life insurance company, so my core intent of seeking an appointment with this gentleman was to promote a specific, you know the solution basket from that respective company. So, in the five minutes I haven't come across any single individual, at least in my experience of over 16 years, selling a life insurance as such. The surgeon told me that he would not mind going up to any more premium I would suggest if I can convince him in five minutes that he should really go for it but he could not spend more than five minutes. When I assured him that I would not take more than two minutes he was really surprised and wondered how could I sell him life insurance in two minutes. Actually, I really had nothing to sell him too at that point of time because I was not aware of his financial standing but had a question to him. I asked him how many of his investment were encumbrance free and assured him that if he had an answer to that question, we should end the conversation at that point of time and in case he had no answer to my question, I handed over my business card and welcomed him to connect with me any point of time because I had a solution for him. I understood the gentleman was perturbed because he was not sure of this legal term, the encumbrance and he asked me the meaning of the term. With his permission, I've referred to a particular case against his hospital. It's so unfortunate a software engineer underwent a surgery but one of his right legs actually got paralyzed. He enquired me, how did I know about that particular case and I conveyed him that I strongly believe in adding value to every discussion that I spent with my clients or every one minute that my clients provide me and ensured that I had a 360-degree approach to all his problems. And that was where I was a bit concerned about that case. The patient was suing him almost twenty five Lakhs that time and I asked him what were his chances of winning that Twenty five lakhs? He bluntly! told me that he was dead sure of losing that Twenty five. And it's unfortunate, though, that was not being done by him, but a team of doctors led by him, in a respective hospital that was responsible. Considering the indemnity and consulting in terms of Medical negligence under Indian Consumers Protection Act, liability as such are so unlimited, I reminded him and he agreed, many doctors today are losing their licenses and their properties in order to insure the fulfilling what has been suggested and amended by the government and what is being sued by the respective person. I enquired about how many of those investments that he had done so far, irrespective of his real estate and the big hospital that he had done and constructed so well, he had a team of doctors working for him as well and he was making millions almost and had some life insurance policies which were getting matured, how many of those investments, he could assure me, come what may, every one rupee would go to him or his family in his absence. I asked him to assure himself that every one rupee of those investment would go to him or his family in his absence. The surgeon had no answer and I told him about a very powerful single page addendum to his Life Insurance Policies could have ensured him every rupee of the policy would go to him or his family, and surprisingly, none of his life insurance plans that day had that single page addendum being attached to it. I made him aware of the power of that single page addendum just by declaring that he was the insured, his wife or his children or both his wife and children were the beneficiaries. And his spouse or even a third person could be the trustee, to ensure, even in case he had an unlimited liability in the profession that he is in, no creditors, no court can attach this life insurance policy even on a worst-case scenario where they can attach his entire properties and assets, including his investments and asked him if it made sense to him. Did it make the good news to him? He completely agreed and bought a policy with a premium equal to his three months’ income. Now many of you continue to give your time, your focus to your noble profession but something which many of you actually forget is to create a trust or an absolute assignment in the interests of your family. Look, if criminals around India are thinking about the power of that single page addendum in consultation with the respective lawyers, Why not you? Because what matters the most, your hard efforts and the yield should be enjoyed by someone whom you love the most. Shila will call you to know your answer. Leave an appointment with her for me if you are not completely encumbrance free. Bye!! Have a nice day ahead.
