Principal suspect, Fausto Edgar Peralta, Then confessed to the killing, and has expressed his desire to turn state witness. However, the NBI cannot decide on Peralta’s request to become a state witness, as it is up to the courts to render judgment on the matter based on the substance and importance of his statement to the case. He confirmed he was Wee’s triggerman. And named a retired military official as the alleged mastermind. Peralta, admitted he was bothered by his conscience. Peralta executed a 30-page judicial affidavit before the NBI investigators. He was assisted by Lawyers Jose Glenn Capanas and Mary Grace Casano of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines-Cebu City Chapter. Peralta said, that a certain retired Army Lt. Col. Edwin Layesi, a former director of the drug enforcement agencies, PEEDDEYYAA, Eastern Visayas regional office, who graduated from the Philippine Military Academy in 1994, contracted them for 4 Hundred thousand pesos to kill Wee and his wife. He was given 60 thousand pesos down payment but only received a net amount of 40 thousand pesos in Cavite, because of he had already advanced some amount. The remaining balance was allegedly paid to them by Layesi after Wee was killed. According to him, The contract was made through John Raymond Suarez, his alleged backup shooter, and Randy Palpparran. Aside from Suarez and Palpparran, there were two unidentified people who assisted them during the killing.
