There are many nonoperative treatments available for ONFH, most with limited supporting data. Activity modification with restricted weight bearing is often used for symptomatic relief, but does not seem to have any effect on disease progression. Pharmacologic and biophysical treatment of ONFH is mainly experimental at this time and consists of bisphosphonates, anticoagulants, vasodilators, statins, and biophysical modalities. At this time, the use of nonoperative pharmacologic and biophysical treatment modalities for ONFH is limited to the experimental realm and early stages of the disease
