Osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) is a devastating condition affecting patients in the third to fifth decades of life that usually progresses to femoral head collapse, often leading to total hip arthroplasty . Although the etiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment of ONFH have been studied extensively, there is no clear consensus as to its exact origin. ONFH is “not a specific disease, but rather the end result of various conditions, ultimately, with impairment of blood to the femoral head.
