Dear Ladies and gentlemen, you are warmly welcome to our presentation on development of a flood warning mobile application. My name is engineer M.D. Jaanaka Priyantha wickramasooriya, currently I am working as an irrigation engineer in Irrigation department of Sri Lanka. There are four more colleagues who works with me on this study. They are engineer W.M. sumith priyankara who is also an irrigation engineer at irrigation department of sri lanka, further shehana iqbal , amanda ariyarathna , madhawi gayathri who are undergraduates of faculty of engineering, university of moratuwa support by the technical side of the mobile application preparation. This paper discusses the development of a mobile application, initially for android which is the most widely used mobile operating system in Sri Lanka, to disseminate the flood warnings to the users. Basically this mobile application has two platforms. One is with the real-time reservoir and dam details which are highly important for the dry zone, and the other platform is with the flood warning system.
