For example, if the temperature is 80 degrees Fahrenheit and the dew point is 62 degrees Fahrenheit 80 minus 62 equals 18. 18 divided by 4.4 is approximately 4. Multiply 4 by 1,000 to get a cloud base of 4,000 feet Above Ground Level. Standard Atmospheric Pressure At sea level, standard temperature is 15 degrees Celsius or 59 degrees Fahrenheit, and standard barometric pressure is 29.92 inches of mercury. Standard pressure drops by 1 inch of mercury for every 1,000 feet of altitude gained. Temperature Inversions A temperature inversion occurs when warm air lies on top of cool air. Thunderstorm Lifecycle Thunderstorms have three distinct stages Stage 1 The Cumulus stage, characterized by continuous updrafts.
