Many countries use fossil fuels such as coal, oil, and natural gases as their main source of energy. However, in some countries, the use of alternative sources of energy such as wind and solar power is dominant. Consider the benefits and drawbacks of both fossil fuels and alternative energy and state your opinion on which type of energy should be more widely used. To this day, the majority of the energy used by humans is produced by fossil fuels. However, with the advancement of technology, alternative sources of energy such as wind power, hydro power, and solar power are gradually beginning to become more widely used. Both fossil fuels and alternative energy have their pros and cons, but I believe that the use of alternative energy sources should be advanced more. Fossil fuels have long sustained our industries and economy. The majority of the worlds countries, especially developing countries, still use them as their main source of power. The most significant benefit of fossil energy is that it can be produced at relatively low costs, using the facilities and technology that are already at hand. However, the downside is that the burning of coal, oil, and other fossil fuels releases gases that are harmful to the human body and the environment, and also speeds up global warming. On top of this, these energy sources are exhaustible, meaning that they will one day run out. In contrast, alternative energy sources are used to great effect mostly in developed countries. Alternative energy is beneficial since no toxic gases are released into the atmosphere during its production. Sources such as wind, water, and the sun are inexhaustible, so their usage is unlimited. On the other hand, the cost for producing renewable energy is quite expensive. This is especially true because there is a need to build hightech facilities and to train people to run and maintain them. Considering both the positive and negative aspects of fossil fuels and alternative energy, I still believe that the use of alternative energy should be encouraged so that we can leave behind a sustainable and environmentally friendly society for following generations.
