However, online dating is less financially demanding since the only things you need are your smartphone or computer and an internet connection. Although online dating has many benefits, we must also be fully aware of its downsides. A negative point about online dating is that it makes it easier for people to cut off relationships when they go wrong. If one person feels that the relationship is no longer beneficial, they can simply break it off by deleting or blocking the other persons contact details. Also, since you do not meet your date in person, it can be hard to discern whether they are telling the truth about their identity or feelings. For all you know, your dream date could be trying to take advantage of the personal information they manage to get out of you. Online dating may be convenient and beneficial in some ways.
