Hello My name is Ben Repp. I’m currently a senior at Wilmington University, set to graduate with a bachelor’s in computer science after the summer semester. I work as a leader at Target, and in the fall, I’ll be enrolled at Purdue Global, pursuing a master’s in information technology with a concentration in cybersecurity. My ultimate career aspiration is to work in the technology field, and I’ve enjoyed my time at Wilmington University, where the professors have been incredibly supportive. During this course, I discovered that one of my greatest strengths is leadership, particularly in group projects. I excel at organizing tasks, guiding discussions, and ensuring deadlines are met, which is a crucial skill in cybersecurity—especially in areas like incident response and risk management. Additionally, I’m highly disciplined when it comes to completing coursework. I always ensure assignments are finished on time, which is essential in cybersecurity, where meeting deadlines for audits, security patches, and compliance reports is critical. Despite my strengths, I faced challenges in two key areas time management and Python programming. I struggled with estimating how much time assignments would take, sometimes leading to lastminute work. Since cybersecurity often requires strategic time allocation—like in penetration testing or security forensics—it’s important for me to improve this skill. Another challenge has been Python programming. Python is widely used in cybersecurity for automation, threat analysis, and vulnerability scanning. While I understand its importance, I’ve found it difficult to master the language, which could hinder my ability to develop security scripts and analyze network threats. Throughout this course, I’ve seen significant growth. My problemsolving skills have improved, especially when analyzing security threats. Collaboration in group projects has also strengthened my ability to communicate and work effectively in teams—an essential skill for cybersecurity professionals who often coordinate efforts during security incidents. Additionally, I’ve gained a deeper understanding of cybersecurity concepts, including network security, encryption, and ethical hacking. These foundational elements will be crucial as I move forward in my education and career. To address my weaknesses, I’m implementing the following strategies 1. Enhancing Time Management I plan to use tools like Trello or Notion to organize assignments and set realistic deadlines. Breaking tasks into smaller steps will help me stay on track without rushing at the last minute. 2. Strengthening Python Proficiency I’ll engage with interactive coding platforms like Codecademy and apply Python in cybersecurityrelated exercises, such as automating security tasks or analyzing logs. 3. Leveraging Wilmington University Resources I intend to take advantage of tutoring services and cybersecurity workshops to refine my technical skills and gain guidance from experienced professionals. Looking ahead, I’ve set both shortterm and longterm goals for personal and professional development • ShortTerm Goals Strengthen my Python skills and deepen my cybersecurity expertise through handson labs. • LongTerm Goals Complete my master’s degree at Purdue Global, then transition into a cybersecurity or technologyfocused career, applying my knowledge to secure digital systems. By consistently refining my skills and leveraging resources, I’m confident that I’ll grow into a capable cybersecurity professional. Wilmington University has provided me with a strong foundation in technology and cybersecurity. I’ve developed leadership skills, faced challenges with time management and programming, and created a plan to improve. With my upcoming studies at Purdue Global, I look forward to advancing in the field of technology and cybersecurity. Thank you for listening, and have a great day
