Welcome to AstraGene. We are UAE’s first molecular diagnostics manufacturing company and are located in Dubai Science Park. We have seven lines of production which have been approved for GMP by MOHAP. Our products are CE certified, and our facilities are ISO 13485, ISO 17034, and ISO 9001 certified. We manufacture about 30 different rapid test kits, mainly in the region of infectious disease diagnostics. Rapid test kits operate on the principle of lateral flow. When a sample is applied on a lateral flow strip, it flows along the strip, initially binding to specific labeled antibodies on a conjugate path. This complex then travels and meets immobilized antibodies which capture the complex, producing a visible line. A control line is incorporated to check if the kit is working properly. AstraGene’s COVID19 antigen detection kit is an RTK which is designed to detect the viral nucleoprotein from the oropharyngeal swab. The test is designed for professional laboratory use only. AstraGene’s COVID19 kit contains 10 tests in one pack — each individually packed — a bottle of extraction buffer, 10 empty reagent tubes with tips, and 10 sterile nasopharyngeal swabs. The nasopharyngeal swab is collected by tilting the patient’s head backward and inserting the swab to reach the posterior pharyngeal wall. Add 300 microliters of reagent solution — approximately nine drops — into the reagent tube. Add the nasopharyngeal swab to the tube with reagent solution. Vigorously rotate and twist the swab against the side of the tube at least 10 times. Squeeze the sides of the tube to obtain as much liquid as possible, then dispose of the swab properly. Apply the cap to the tube with the specimen, and holding the tube vertically, add five drops — about 120 microliters — of the specimen without air bubbles into the sample well. Read results at 20 minutes.
