I am the musician Metellus, born in the rich and flourishing Akragas of the 4th century BC, in the midst of the Dionigian age. As a young man, I studied history and philosophy and, later, I taught rhetoric and ancient Greek. But, my true passion was music to which I dedicated most of my life. I taught music not only in Sicily, but also in Athens, where I founded a school that, as Plutarch recalls in his “De musica”, became famous throughout Magna Graecia. Perhaps not everyone knows that, for some time, as Draco of Athens, I was the tutor and music teacher of the great Plato to whom I revealed the secrets of the use of the aul.
