Hello I am Theron, defined by historians as the Tyrant of Akragas After the reign of Telemachus and Alcamenes, exploiting my immense wealth, the fruit of my wealthy origins, I enlisted thousands of mercenary soldiers, with whom I took over the city in 488 BC, I gave my daughter Damarete in marriage to Gelon, tyrant of Syracuse, thus forming a strong alliance with that city thanks to which I was able to defeat the Carthaginians at Himera. And after this great victory, using the enormous treasures taken from the enemy and the considerable number of prisoners made slaves, I erected the majestic temple of Jupiter and built the aqueducts of Feàce. I must say that, despite the cruelty and ruthlessness used to repress the revolt of the Himerians, I am remembered by all as a mild and fair tyrant. Under my reign, Akragas prospered and was adorned with magnificent buildings, a testament to the great level of opulence achieved through my work.
