In July 1518, in Strasbourg, a woman started dancing in the streets—nonstop. Within days, hundreds joined her, unable to stop. People danced for hours, screaming in pain, collapsing, even dying from exhaustion or heart attacks. No one knows why. Some blame mass hysteria, others poisoned bread with hallucinogenic mold. Whatever caused it, the Dancing Plague remains one of historys creepiest mysteries.
