Brian Turner had worked abroad most of his life as a doctor and when he retired in the country, he bought himself a thatched cottage. It was in good condition, except for the roof, which leaked. He had led an adventurous life and he didn’t mind this. He wanted to enjoy his last years in the fresh air and the quietness of a rural life, far away from the madding crowd and, above all, from his obnoxious nephew, Jeremy. But Brian had miscalculated the power of the social like Facebook, Twitter etc. When his nephew needed money, he was just like a detective. In fact, he managed to find out where his uncle lived and one day he went to see him without warning him that he was coming. Jeremy was always short of money because he liked to lead a good life, meeting beautiful ladies and sports. One morning, Brian had just got up and was pleasantly sipping his first cup of tea when he saw his nephew parking in front of his gate. For a moment he wondered if he should pretend to be out. In spite of the fact that the cottage was not very comfortable, his nephew decided to stay for a week. That same evening, they sat round the fire after supper and Brian told his nephew about some exciting adventures he had had abroad. He was in the middle of one of his stories when there was a tremendous crash upstairs. They both rushed up to the bedroom. Part of the ceiling had collapsed falling right on to the bed where the young man was going to sleep. After that, the boy got so scared that he did not even want to stay the night. The young man went back to London the morning after saying that he had to visit a sick relative.
