Clare Wilson is a freelance. It means she works for herself. She is a writer. She writes for magazines. Like many other people, she works at home. This can be difficult sometimes because her friends don’t understand that she’s working. They don’t understand that, when they go to see her, even though she’s wearing her pyjamas, she is working. She must be very disciplined. She gets up every morning at seven o’clock, exactly the same as everybody else with a job. At eight thirty, she’s sitting at her desk ready to start her day. She works through until one or two o’clock when she takes a break for lunch. Lunch is usually very quick and then she works through until six o’clock. She often doesn’t see anyone all day although sometimes goes to meetings with a client. Once a week she arranges to meet a friend for lunch and she takes one morning off a week to go to gym. Of course, it is more flexible than a real office job and she can take time off when she wants. For example, tomorrow, she’s seeing some friends in London for the day. “When I do that though”, she says, “I work at the weekend to catch up.”
