I remember preparing my bag and uniform weeks ahead, filled with excitement for my first day of school and eagerness to learn. Unfortunately, the day didn’t go as well as I had hoped. My mother was ill and unable to accompany me to school, so I went with my older sister instead. Although she was kind, I needed my mom more, and I felt anxious throughout the day, like a fish out of water. As I stepped into the school, I saw many children running around, playing, and laughing. I was surprised by the massive size of the building, the yard, and the trees—everything seemed huge to me. I stuck to my sister like glue until our supervisor’s voice boomed over the microphone, instructing us to form lines and get separated from our parents. She then read our names aloud from a list, organizing us into two classes. There were two teachers standing and waiting for us, and one of them seemed serious and unwelcoming. Fortunately, when it was my turn, I was assigned to the kinder teacher, I met my first teacher and breathed a sigh of relief. Our teacher, Mrs. Ahmadi, greeted us with a warm smile and broke the ice by introducing herself, which helped me feel more comfortable as the day progressed. On the first day, we didn’t study any specific subjects. Instead, we spent time getting to know each other, and Mrs. Ahmadi discussed the profound importance of reading and writing skills, highlighting their essential role in shaping our futures. The rest of the time was spent sharing jokes and memories. It was all fun. Looking back on that day, I realize how much it shaped my perspective on the importance of stepping out of one’s comfort zone and embracing new experiences.
