my name is khawla alsulaim. i graduated from iau university with a bachelor’s degree in computer science. I’ve been with the company for five years, working with the geophysical emerging technology group in EASD/GAD. Today, I want to take you on a journey through the transformation and innovation we’ve achieved with our Upstream Coding Assistant. But before we embark on this journey, Allow me to take you back to when I first joined the company. I started with a challenging project, working on a legacy scientific program, the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT). written in Fortran, the first high-level programming language, long before I was even born. FFT, is an essential component in our seismic processing workflow, transforming seismic data into the frequency domain where they can be easily filtered and separated from noise. FFT is one of the most challenging algorithms in signal processing, and it becomes even more complex when applied to 3D seismic data. Understanding the intricate geophysical details of this legacy program, And bridging the knowledge and experience gaps with senior SMEs, further intensified the challenge. And the challenges were mounting. Imagine stepping into a program where the code, is a maze of low-level, sequential commands, far from the modern paradigms we're accustomed to today. This was the reality I faced when converting FFT from Fortran to modern C++. But the rapid advancements in our software and hardware resources have made modernization a business necessity. We successfully achieved a modular, reusable, maintainable, and adaptable program, Yet, the process took approximately six months to complete. And The journey didn't stop at modernization… We further optimized the program manually, to leverage the power of our advanced resources. What we’ve seen so far, was for a single program, taking on average, 3 months to be modernized, while we currently have over 200 legacy seismic processing modules, Manually modernizing them would take years. But as every challenge is an opportunity in disguise. Imagine if we had a solution that could transcend all of these challenges, achieving even better results with just a few clicks. UpstreamCA, has made this a reality. Allow me to introduce, our new upstream companion: 'The Upstream Coding Assistant’. Powered by generative AI, UpstreamCA comes to advance our capabilities. It has learned how developers work, and now automates their tasks. It provides us with speed, equips us with the power, To transform the way we modernize, optimize, comprehend, and innovate. With Upstream CA, we are revolutionizing the way we modernize our programs, What used to take years, can now be achieved in days. accelerating the alignment with our modernized geoscience ssing platforms. Optimization, has become achievable with just a few clicks, from CPU to GPU optimization to low-level compiler optimization, maximizing the utilization of our advanced supercomputers. And not only that, Upstream CA explains complex programs, simplifying knowledge transfer and reducing the learning curve for our legacy applications. Upstream CA excels in code generation, Shortening the development time and empowering developers and researchers to focus on innovations and new ideas. By transforming new ideas into production-ready solutions, Upstream CA turns ambitious innovations into reality with unprecedented speed. With Upstream CA, we are taking our scientific applications into the realm of IR4.0 by seamlessly integrating machine learning and AI solutions. And now, As we stand on the threshold of a new technology shift, The era of quantum computing is here, no longer confined to theory. last month, Aramco signed an agreement with Pasqal to deploy the first quantum computer in the Kingdom. With Upstream CA, we can accelerate ushering into the quantum age, by easily transition our applications into quantum computing. As you can see here, upstreamCA is transforming our fast fourier transform into quantum fast fourier teansform, promising significant speedups in our seismic processing computation and empowering us to solve previously intractable problems at scale. And with such astonishing capabilities, a success story has made UpstreamCA a true enabler for innovation. In GIAD, a patented solution from NARCD, written in a research language, MATLAB, to find the optimal azimuth angle for well planning, Has been converted into Python solution to be integrated with DSG (decisionSpace geoscience) A process that was estimated to take 3 months with 3 fully dedicated resources, now took an hour, empowering geoscientists to seize and explore more opportunities for innovation. This achievement was done by Yahya Althubaiti from GIAD. Yahya, could you please brief us about it? And this is just the beginning. Upstream CA has become the ultimate solution for EASD to modernize their legacy systems. In ATD, UpstreamCA is transforming over 150 obsolete modules in (DSS) into Python, reducing the time required from months to just a few days. And In GAD, our advanced seismic processing technologies are evolving, and so are we. With Upstream CA, we are taking over 200 legacy seismic processing modules to the level of our modern paradigms at a faster pace than ever before. This success in EASD, is not the end of the journey; it’s just the beginning. Upstream CA is now deployed to Exploration, and in the near future, will lead the way of development in all Upstream. And with that, Upstream is ushering into a new age of development. A revamped and a revolutionized way of doing UDC core business in a short amount of time. As we embrace the power of AI with UpstreamCA, we are not just keeping pace with the future—we are shaping it. Thank you for listening. Now, I will leave you with a demo that showcases the capabilities of Upstream CA
