Testing for alcohol, drug use, or medication misuse will occur when there are reasonable grounds to suspect an employee’s conduct while on duty indicates such usage. The decision to test is based on specific observation using the fitness for duty checklist, including but not limited to observed drug or alcohol use, smell of alcohol or other substances, slurred speech, tremors, repeated errors, disoriented behaviour, possession of alcohol or drugs on company premises, among other indicators outlined in the Fitness for Duty Assessment checklist.
