While I think your cause is a noble one, your approach feels misguided. I'm not asking you to tolerate evil, August.I'm asking you to understand that there's more complexity to the world than just good and evil. There are nuances, shades of gray, and individuals who defy categorization. It feels like a blanket statement and a simplistic solution for a complicated philosophy. I understand your desire to uplift the weak, but 'uplift the weak to be strong' implies that the weak are inherently inferior. That's not true. Every individual has their own strengths and weaknesses, and we should strive to understand and support each other's unique abilities. By focusing on strength alone, we risk perpetuating a culture of competition and superiority, rather than one of cooperation and mutual respect. Your mantra seems to be based on a simplistic view of good and evil. In reality, the world is much more complex. Evil is not just a clear-cut concept, but rather a complex web of motivations and actions. By eliminating evil at its source, you're implying that you can identify and eradicate it with absolute certainty. But what about cases where individuals are driven by misguided beliefs or circumstances beyond their control? Are you willing to punish them for their actions without considering the context? By seeking to eliminate evil at its source, August may inadvertently eliminate all forms of diversity and individuality. This could lead to a homogenized society where everyone is the same, and creativity, innovation, and progress are stifled. August's plan may instill fear and paranoia in the population, leading to a culture of oppression and surveillance. People may be afraid to express their opinions or live their lives freely, as they are constantly monitored for any sign of "evil" behavior. By focusing on eliminating evil rather than understanding and addressing its root causes, August's plan may erode empathy and compassion for those who are struggling or making mistakes. Homogenization is often seen as a negative outcome in a society, as it can lead to a lack of innovation, stagnation, and loss of individual freedom. It's often associated with a loss of cultural diversity and the suppression of minority groups or alternative perspectives. In the context of August's plan, homogenization would be a consequence of his attempt to eliminate "evil" by creating a society where everyone is the same. This would likely lead to a loss of diversity and individuality, which could have far-reaching and negative consequences for human society. Sunny could caution August about the dangers of absolute power and the importance of accountability and checks on authority. It creates a potential for whoever is dictating "evil" to abuse power, intentionally or otherwise. "I know it's hard to see, but people are complex and multifaceted. They can't be reduced to simple labels like 'good' or 'evil'. We need to understand them, not just try to eliminate them." If August's plan is to eliminate the root of evil, it's unclear what constitutes evil and what doesn't. This could lead to a moral gray area, where individuals and actions are judged solely based on their intentions or motivations. If August is given the power to eradicate evil at its source, it's possible that he will overreach and start to target individuals or groups that are perceived as "evil" but may not necessarily be harming society. This could lead to a loss of individual freedoms and a erosion of trust in authority since there wouldn't be a clear definition of what constitutes evil. There would be a lack or consistency and fairness. If August has used the Dominant Creature spell before, it could imply that he is willing to use magic to manipulate others for his own gain. By controlling an evil dragon, Sunny might argue that August is inadvertently perpetuating the very evil he claims to be fighting against. This could create a sense of moral hypocrisy, as August would be using a similar tactic to one he would likely condemn in others. It also acknowledges that evil can take many forms, including systemic injustices and personal biases. This mantra emphasizes the importance of supporting personal growth and development, while also challenging systems of oppression and injustice. It encourages August to focus on empowering individuals and communities, rather than simply trying to eradicate evil. It also acknowledges that evil often arises from underlying causes, such as trauma, poverty, or lack of access to resources. Argument: "I'm not just talking about physical strength or power, I'm talking about the moral strength to stand up against evil. You can't let evil prevail just because it's convenient or easier." Sunny's Response: "I understand where you're coming from, August, but I think you're oversimplifying the situation. Moral strength is important, but it's not the only factor at play. Sometimes, taking a more nuanced approach can be more effective in the long run. We need to consider the root causes of evil and work towards creating a more just and compassionate society." Argument: "But what about the innocent people who are suffering at the hands of evil? Don't they deserve protection and justice? You can't just sit back and do nothing while they're being hurt." Sunny's Response: "I completely agree that innocent people deserve protection and justice. But we need to think about how we can achieve that in a way that doesn't perpetuate more harm or violence. Sometimes, taking a more compassionate and empathetic approach can lead to more sustainable and effective solutions. We need to consider the ripple effects of our actions and work towards creating a more just and peaceful society." Argument: "You're always talking about finding common ground and understanding with others. But what about when you're faced with absolute evil? Do you really think that understanding is going to help? Sometimes, you just have to take a stand against evil, no matter what." Sunny's Response: "I understand your frustration, August, but I think you're misunderstanding my approach. I'm not saying that we should never take a stand against evil. However, I do believe that we need to consider the long-term consequences of our actions and work towards creating a more just and compassionate society. Sometimes, taking a stand against evil means working with others who share our values and goals, rather than resorting to violence or coercion." Offering compassion does not mean you have to condone someone's actions. As far as dominate creature, I'm a little biased I suppose, but I'm not fond of taking away autonomy. The idea of it even being cast on me makes my skin crawl. Your dominate monster spell is a form of control, not a solution. You said you'd love to work with dragons yet you carry with you a way to manipulate and coerce. At what point do your ideals stop being justice and start being prejudice? You make sweeping generalizations without considering the possibility for growth and compassion. While I feel you have the potential to do a lot of good for the world with the influence you hold, I also fear you have the same potential to do a lot of harm with that influence. Most of the distrust I have for you stems from this. And my problem with a religious source of action is that deities tend to be so far separated from this world that they don't have the perspective we have. Cities have been glassed because people stray too far from deital influence. There is not a single insignificant person on this planet. The ramifications of your mantra "uplift the weak, destroy evil at its roots" have a chance to be insanely detrimental. My overall goal is to protect and encourage people. I want people to be able to explore the world and satisfy curiosities as safely as possible, with the room to grow and evolve. My intentions with dragons are to unify them to a point with the rest of the world. I would sooner choose to uplift and support those around me than I would to strike something down on a false premise of evil. I fear your methods will lead to a world dominated by fear. This is not about means to an end. It's about cooperation with the world around you to find a long term solution.
