Eggs eggs eggs (testing) Eggs: The world can only begin to see them I have a deep love for eggs, and that love only grows more and more every day. Like a missile blowing up a building Or a car driving up a mountain I have a deep love for eggs that I want to share with all of you today. (throws egg at jessie) But before we start this egg based journey in knowledge Do you like eggs I hope you do Because I like eggs, your friends like eggs, most people in your family like eggs And I am here to teach you more about those eggs So you can grow to like them too (throws egg at jessie) Egg history is simply an amazing thing. I mean Egg history dates back to the ancient Romans, Egyptians, and the Chinese And that is just for domesticated chickens Egg laying, Egg eating, and Eggshells date back even farther than that But getting back to the ancient Romans, Egyptians, and Chinese They Were some of the first civilizations to domesticate chickens And each of them had their own view on chickens Some were weirder than others Egyptians:Egyptians Had a god of chickens, Alectryon, who was a young soldier that ares tasked with guarding the bedroom door while he has a affair with Aphrodite, He falls asleep on guard and Helios sees them and alerts Hephaestus who is Aphrodite’s husband. Ares would then turn Alectryon into a Rooster for his failure. Chinese:Chinese Chickens were hailed as the fowl of five virtues, the crown worn on its head symbolizes literary flair and on its feet symbolizes the martial spirit. By fighting its enemies head on it shows courage, by calling to other chickens when there is food shows benevolence, and by keeping vigil at night without leaving the homestead shows faithfulness. That came from a book from the Han period, if you don’t know what that is, that's too bad because I am not going to tell you Romans: the Romans had sacred chickens that priests would use for omens or predictions, and they were also really into cockfighting. It was supposedly one of their most popular pastimes. These times are where most Modern day chicken ancestors come from, The main one being the Jungle Fowl who would be domesticated for their ability to reproduce Allowing for good farming potential on the level of cows and goats. Who were also quite popular too around this time period (throws egg at jessie) And as time passed chickens would spread around the world due to colonies and trade and all types things They were also cheap, abundant, and gave you eggs and meat. And with that, the worldwide spread of chickens would eventually lead to Hen Fever Like the dog breeding craze but older and less cruel, leading into it Around 1845 - 1855 a bunch of people got this obsession With owning and breeding the world’s finest chicken One such person that had this obsession was a young queen Victoria You know the queen of united kingdom who would reign over it for 63 years 7 months (throws egg at jessie) Also around this time a hen with a human face was discovered by professor Fischer, the face looked like an old lady. Which I can only see as displeasing for the eyes I can go on and on about chickens, and their chickeney ways (throws egg at jessie) But enough history we all came here for EGGS FACTs Let’s start off with some fun facts about eggs Did you know that more than 200 million male chicks are ground up alive Yep they are considered and unwanted byproduct of egg production and Are killed and disposed of, by electrocution, gassing, or like I said grinding them up alive Another fact is that 9 billion chickens are killed every year Chickens will mourn a dead friend You would have to eat 204 medium sized eggs to have a calcium overdose and die Emu eggs are a delicacy around the world You can stand on a Ostrich egg and it will not break But I wouldn’t recommend doing so Hooded Pitchui eggs are the most deadly to touch. (throws egg at jessie) And that's all. (clap)
