The Australian Trucking Association (ATA) has urged the country's transport ministers to extend the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) review to address what it views as excessively high penalties for truck driver work diary offenses. ATA CEO Mathew Munro criticized the complexity of work diaries and the penalties matrix established in 2015, arguing for fairer penalties and suggesting the Road Transport Act as a simpler alternative to the HVNL. After Scott’s Refrigerated Logistics' financial collapse, their remaining fleet, consisting of prime movers and refrigerated trailers, is being auctioned online by the Gordon Brothers Ritchie Bros. Alliance. The auction is set for November 14, 2023, and is seen as a chance for industry players to expand their fleets. The company, a key provider of refrigerated transport to major supermarkets, had gone into voluntary administration earlier in the year due to significant losses. Two enormous transformers, each weighing 337.5 tonnes, have been successfully delivered to TagEnergy's Golden Plains Wind Farm in Rokewood from Geelong Port. This is part of a massive project involving 122 Vestas wind turbines that will provide clean energy to power around 450,000 homes while significantly reducing carbon emissions. The delivery involved a complex and carefully planned operation, showcasing GeelongPort's capability to handle such large-scale logistics. The Victorian Transport Association (VTA) has awarded Peter O’Shannessy, former managing director of Kalari and a VTA executive council member, the prestigious W.F.D Chalmers Award. This accolade recognizes his long-term commitment and service to the VTA and his advisory role during challenging economic periods. With Kalari now under new ownership, O’Shannessy is expected to shift his focus towards his personal interests in farming.
