Hello everyone, this is my presentation where I will be discussing and sharing my outcomes to the Making Meaning module. If you notice my voice sounding a little off, it’s because this is a generated AI voice as at this time I’m really unwell and have no voice to be able to do this myself. To recap about my project, my awareness campaign is about stressing the importance of wearing proper protective clothing while using motorbikes. My target audience is directed at motorbike users but the campaign is really for everyone to see and keep in mind as we all know at least one person that uses a motorbike. The intention of the campaign is to make it more likely to see bikers in their proper gear rather than not. As a starting point for my campaign, I intended on designing a logo that would be the face of it all. The design I intended on creating would have been multi purpose as I also wanted it to double up as an embroidery patch. Embroidery patches are commonly used among bikers to stylise their leather jackets and it becomes a conversation starter amongst them. Having such a product that perfectly tied into my audience allowed me to have strong relationships between the outcomes and how I communicated them to suit my topic. The design of the logo/patch itself is in style of the an embroidery patch, while being slightly more modernised. I had to think about how it would look on devices such as decreased in size on a mobile phone. Therefore I couldn’t make the design too complicated so that it remained clear and functional. The colour scheme I picked stayed within the range of the punk dark tones of bikers, with a hint of colour to make important information stand out and pop against the rest. I mocked up the design as an actual patch on a jacket where I played around with texture to make it look stitched or fabric like. As well as on a bike helmet to really show its ability to be applied to any object. This got me thinking how the patches reminded me of stickers, therefore I tried to visualise that by creating a mock-up of a roll of stickers as well as one in situ on a road sign. For a second outcome, I needed the campaign to actually be displayed somewhere. I thought the most appropriate place for this would be on a road side billboard as bikers are much more likely to see it, over small posters on building sides. The intention of the billboard was to advertise the cause and purpose of the campaign rather than the campaign brand itself. Therefore for my billboard, I didn’t want it to use any vastly graphic imagery as I was taking into consideration the younger audience that might see it on the roads side as well as, when things are graphic, people often switch them off and turn away from them which would not be ideal for a campaign. The design I ended making involved me making imagery of a spine in a bikers leather jacket. This was to symbolise what the clothes are there for, what they are protecting and what you should be wearing to protect your body. because it’s a road side billboard, the audience would be moving at speed when viewing it so text needed to be kept with a minimum. I decided to go for “protect yourself, wear your gear” as the only text Elements that are vital to be read on the design. I reached out of my colour scheme slightly for this as the red in this situ worked much better than the orange. The red signifies importance and almost became a command. The other elements on the billboard as sort of like the small script text you don’t really need to read. I put it there to tie it into what campaign is was and to balance out the heavy large text on top. To again text the versatility of my designs, I created both a horizontal and vertical design which both in my option work successfully. My final outcome was hitting the moving image criteria, through which I designed a campaign advert. The advert plays on the saying “I’ll see you later” which can be both a statement and a question. I used this to my advantage to created uncertainty within the first few seconds of the video. Leading through to different perspective shots of riding a motorbike. Followed by a strong statement tying it into the clothes and ending it in the campaign logo and fake website link. To be honest, I faced a challenge when designing this as after the last cinematic shot of riding the bike, I was going to put in clips of crashes, obviously missing out the graphic sections, but none were available without me having to spend a lot of money on singular clips. Therefore if I had longer to spend on this project, the campaign video is definitely the element I would try to improve on as it’s not a super strong point of the campaign. I didn’t manage to tell the storyline within it how I wanted. I also thought I would include the design I created for the Running Forever running club. My emphasis was on the 20 to symbolise the anniversary year and from that I designed a the logo we can see on screen. The shoe print acts as the cutout for the number zero while tying in some imagery to all the text. To conclude, I overall enjoyed this module and think I managed to create some strong outcomes, however and area to further study and gain more skill in would be using premier pro and in general creating videos. Thanks for listening.
