13. A BURGLAR? It must have been about two in the morning when Walter returned home. He tried to wake up his wife by ringing the door-bell, but she was fast asleep, so he got a ladder from the shed in the garden, put it against the wall, and began climbing towards the bedroom window. He was almost there when a sarcastic voice below said, “I don’t think the windows need cleaning at this time of the night.” Walter looked down and he nearly fell off the ladder when he saw a policeman. Walter immediately regretted answering in the way he did, but he said, “I enjoy cleaning windows at night.” “So, do I,” answered the policeman in the same tone. “Excuse my interrupting you. I hate to interrupt a man when he’s busy working, but would you mind coming with me to police station?” “Well, I’d prefer to stay here,” Walter said. “You see, I’ve forgotten my key.” “You what?” the called. “My key!” Walter shouted. Fortunately, the shouting woke up his wife who opened the window just as the policeman had started to climb towards Walter. 1- Retell the story from the point of view of Walter. 2- A friend told me that… 3- Rewrite or retell the story following these key words Morning home door-bell asleep ladder shed sarcastic clean windows interrupt police station wife 4- Build up a dialog from this story. 5- Use your imagination to complete the incident suggested below in a way you like.
