“Shopski” folklore region The most characteristic instruments are the “dvoyanka” and the wooden pipe (“duduk”). The women's Sofia-area costume consists of a black or blue low-cut sleeveless dress, a long white shirt, a black or blue belt. The black low-cut sleeveless dress with sewn sequins and beads is called "litak". The male costume consists of a waistcoat, a white shirt, benevrek (tight trousers of white cloth), a black or red woollen sash. The Sofia-area folk dance is agile, lively, catchy, jumpy, springy with a wild temperament.
