Thulabadagadda is a village that belongs to the Downuru gramp panchayat and Koyyuru mandal. The village consists of two streets, with the first street located on the lower area of the road and housing 14 households, while the second street is situated on the upper area of the road and also has 12 households. The village's drinking water facility is an overhead tank that was constructed in 2013 and is located in the first street. However, there is an issue with the water supply, as it is not sufficient for both streets, particularly the second street. Currently, the village has a total of 19 tap connections. The community raised concerns about the frequent repairs of the motor and leakage from the overhead tank, which has resulted in inadequate water supply for all the households. In response to the community's request, VJNNS conducted a study to assess the drinking water situation in the village. During their visit, they discovered a perennial spring located 150 meters above the village, with a water yield of 8 liters per minute. Based on this spring, VJNNS, with the support of Infosys Foundation, Bengaluru, implemented a drinking water project using the Gravity Fed Water Supply System. As part of this project, VJNNS constructed a distribution tank in the upper area of the village, positioned at a higher level than the current overhead tank. This new distribution tank now receives abundant water from the spring and can also supply water to the overhead tank during the night when water usage is minimal. Additionally, VJNNS renovated non-functional taps and installed five new taps and two wash platforms to improve water access. The residents are now pleased that they have access to both bore water and spring water, even during the summer months. This successful intervention by VJNNS has resulted in the entire village of Thulabadagadda achieving saturation in terms of drinking water availability.
