First- Six Month Progress Report “Synthesis, Characterization and Biological Screening of Newer 1,3,4-thiadiazole Hybrids derived from 4-isopropyl-3-methylphenol” CONTENT Introduction Progress of Research Research Conclusion Conferences, Seminars/Webinars and Workshops Details of Remaining Work Plan Introduction Medicinal chemistry and pharmaceutical chemistry are the disciplines at the intersection of chemistry, especially synthetic organic chemistry, and pharmacology and various other biological specialties, which are involved with design, chemical synthesis, and development for market of pharmaceutical agents, or bio-active molecules (drugs). Naturally active substances usually are good lead compounds, but unlikely meet the demands for drug ability. Therefore, it is necessary to modify and optimize these structural phenotypes. Structural modification of natural products is intended to give new medicinal entities. Progress of research Completed initial literature review for topic approval. We have procured the raw materials required for Ph.D. research work. I have synthesized a key intermediate molecule through three stages [Scheme-I]. Characterized and confirmed the structure of key intermediate by 1H NMR, 13C NMR and LCMS spectral techniques. Research conclusion The initial survey of literature has been completed. The required chemicals and particulars has been procured. The key-intermediate has been synthesized successfully with good yield and purity. The synthesized compound has been characterized by 1H NMR, 13C NMR and LCMS spectroscopy, the results are in agreement with the structure of compound. Conferences, Seminars/Webinars and Workshops Participated in online RUSA sponsored Eight days Four-Credits course on, “Research Methodology”, approved by the University of Mumbai, from Sept. 29th 2022 to Oct. 8th 2022 at Chikitsak Samuha’s Patkar-Varde College Goregaon (W) Mumbai 400062. Participated in the Two-credit course on Research & Publication Ethics which was held from 25th Feb. to 25th March 2023 with A+ grade, organized by K. J. Somaiya College of Science and Commerce, Mumbai. Details of remaining work plan Synthesis of further 1,3,4-thiadiazole derivatives from the isolated intermediate. To evaluate the synthesized derivatives by their biological activities. Docking and ADME studies of synthesized compounds. Publications of the results of research work in the reputed journals.
