How do you motivate other people? Based on my experience, there is not enough praise within a team environment. So, when there is a good performance I praise and I also tackle underperformance immediately and consistently. I can give you an example of a strategy that I use quite often. I had 1to1 with one of my high performance team members. Of course I appreciate his work but I also collected feedback, ways to work, additional tools, templates he used. I also had a meeting with an underperformance team member and asked her the same question and collected data. Then I had a wider opinion by comparing the feedback. Even though she was new, the quality of her work was excellent so I appreciated it but she was a bit slow. We found out she didn't use the guidelines very effectively and struggled finding the correct information. I gave her some time to get more familiar with the guidelines. I assured her I was always ready to help her if she needed me. She then worked faster with high quality, How you persuade colleagues to listen to your ideas. A couple of months ago we received a report from Apple stating the employees do not spend enough time on the annotation tool. On the other hand there was no issue about the targets. Our management team decided to ask each team member to write down self reporting about their day at work. It was too detailed such as time in the bathroom, social conversation with a colleague. Grabbing tea/coffee etc. When my thought was asked I mentioned it wasn't a very good idea and I understand the dissatisfaction but it might affect the team in a negative way. I also added that we could find better ways to track it. Beside the tool, the team also spent quite a lot of time on the guideline, I also recommended releasing it with a temporary title. Because it needed to be softened, The management team liked this idea. I think judgment skills, listening skills and being able to speak up without hesitation are the key elements to pursue someone. Can you describe an experience that demonstrated your leadership When I first took over the leadership of the team there was no structure in place as to how tasks were completed ,there were no timelines and nobody had specific responsibility for tasks. It was understandable because it was a brand new project and most of the tools had been developed. As a responsible leader, I knew this needed to change and so I started putting systems in place that everyone in the team would need to follow.I started off by holding a team meeting to explain my vision. I explained to them the benefits of having a systematic approach to tasks. A few months later the team were more clear about what they were doing. We were able to collect loads of data which also helped us to use on the following projects. How do you define success I define success as being able to make a positive difference to other people's lives. There is definitely something rewarding about helping others whether it's in your personal life or at work. I am successful if I can provide for my family and make them feel secure and at work, when I help co-worker learn or develop a new skill. All of those things make me feel happy and i view that as being successful Strategic planning How do you define strategic thinking? Why is it important for an organization’s future? Strategic planning is a process in which organizations create plans for their future success. It’s important because it allows companies to make decisions based on long-term goals rather than short-term ones. Strategic planning involves creating a mission statement, identifying key objectives and developing strategies to achieve those objectives.” I was involved in one of the projects about improving the tutorials. All the team members need to complete the same tutorial 3 times and only in English. I came up with an idea with another team leader that at least one of the tutorials should be language based because all the teams work on their local and only the English team does English. We came with that idea because it would help each local to be more familiar before they jump on their local. THe idea is recognised and and shared with the language engineers What factors are key in creating a strategic plan? What makes a strategic plan most effective? I can gather them Always remembering the purpose of planning Using facts and data. Tying your plan to specific business objectives. Setting verifiable goals. Accountability Can you tell me about a time when you were able to anticipate and prepare for risks during a project? Yes, sure. We work on under 25 domains. Beside the real data, We also use synthetic data which in most cases reduces the team performance and quality. Before we start working on that sort of data I always have a brief with the team and ask them to do their best and focus on the quality more than the number of the annotation. Because I know such projects quality is more important. I also create a quip folder and ask the team to leave their feedback with examples. When the project is done, I have data that shows what keeps us behind and share it with the engineers to help them to train the model better. How do you communicate important information (bad news) to your team members? delivering the bad news to the stakeholders or team I would always be truthful and deliver the bad news quickly. A couple months ago The management decided to make two staff redundant. I know one of them was already looking for another job but the other one was quite new.I searched for alternative positions within the company. I also made some notes to be ready for potential questions and concerns. I delivered the news very quickly, I was very honest and transparent. Thankfully it was quite straightforward and they were both relocated to other departments. How do you research and analyze information when creating a strategy? Understanding your company’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats across every level of the business can help you devise the best strategy for future progress. In my opinion, no matter the strategy level you’re completing the analysis for, the goal is still to build a long-term strategic approach for your business. What is a S.W.O.T analysis? S.W.O.T stands for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. It’s a useful tool for analyzing information about a company’s current state and identifying areas where improvements can be made. I use this technique often during my projects because it allows me to evaluate all aspects of a business before making decisions on which strategies we should implement. How do you align your strategic planning with an organization’s missions and goals? It is crucial considering the organization’s mission, goals and core values when crafting a strategy. The strategy should be adaptable to the unique needs of an organization or project. We want to improve our customer service response times. What strategies would you use to achieve this? Reducing your customer service response time is incredibly important. Not only can it help you make your customers happy it also enhances your brand’s reputation. If it is below the target, I would check the requested target to see how realistic it is. I would firstly inspect the current customer service operation. I would then gather The elements that need to be improved and lastly the positive outcome. These include how effectively autoresponders are used, improving the templates, categorizing and prioritizing customer’s enquiry, how popular the FAQ page is, employee training and development, reviewing individual team performance regularly, setting up an employee recognition and reward scheme.
