Describe a routine you have in your life that you enjoy (What it is) Honestly, I've been up to my ears in work recently, so I don't have so much spare time to unwind. If memory serves me correctly, the most recent day off that I can remember is a Sunday about several weeks ago. (How often do you do it+Is it easy to stick to that routine) Actually, I am an early bird, but that day I slept in until 10 o'clock in the morning. Then at noon, I went to the commercial center with my parents and my brother because both of us weren't in the mood for cooking and washing dishes. In fact, we had a great time there because the food was outstanding and the service was second to none. In the afternoon, we went to the cinema and watched a comedy . It was a perfect way to end the day. (explain how you feel about it) Although I had only 2 days a month, I think the way I spent it was a wise choice. This routine helped me get away from the hustle and bustle and regain my vitality so that I would come back to work the next day full of energy and freshness. I also realize that a day-off like this is so precious that I should enjoy every moment of it. I have tried to habitualized it . I hope that in the future I can arrange my work schedule so that I will have a better work/life balance. In the end, we work to live, not live to work. Right? Part 3 1. Should children have learning routines? Yes, of course, they should have learning routines. These add discipline to life. When children follow routines, they learn to manage time. I believe all routines teach something, so it can be a learning experience. For example, a simple family meal routine can teach children many things when they share their day’s happenings with their parents. They learn many social skills and develop a bond with their family. A routine of going to bed in time can develop children’s mental health. 2. What are the advantages of children having a routine at school? There are many advantages of having routines at school. It gives students a predictable day at school. So, they feel more confident and secure. It also saves time. They don’t have to ask questions about what to do next. Teachers have already streamlined things for them. It becomes easier for students to become focused and attentive. 3. Does having a routine make kids feel more secure at school? Definitely yes. For younger children, a routine engages them in learning and helps them feel safe in their environment, while it helps older children know what to expect and feel more comfortable. This is why classroom routines are important. Routines in the classroom make class time more enjoyable and productive. They offer students a sense of stability. By having classroom 4. How do people’s routines differ on weekdays and weekends? Weekdays and weekends are totally different, so their routines are also different. Weekday routines are good, but on weekends people can afford some flexibility. Of course, a person should also plan weekends. Otherwise, they will disappear without giving you any time for fun and relaxation. A weekend should relax a person after a busy week and also set him up for a successful week ahead. The weekend should incorporate family time, cinema time, outing time, socialising time and all that cannot be done on weekdays. 5. What daily routines do people have at home? People have daily routines like a family meal, a morning prayer, household chores together, etc. Every family has routines set up, makings things easier for all members. For example, ,my father buys vegetables, fruits and groceries in my family, while my mother does the cooking and laundry. Before going to bed, my father checks if all doors, windows and the main gate are locked. 6. What are the differences between people’s daily routines now and in the last 15 years? Life was slower and simpler in the past. People spent less time on social networking sites than in the past, so they had more time to socialise. Routines included being with other people. Today’s routines are more about spending time with oneself and technology. 7. What routine do people have at home? It depends. In general, Vietnamese start their daily routine normally at 7.00 or 8:00 am. People working in the office spend less time at home and their routine is fixed. After doing personal hygiene, having breakfast and preparing for work, they will drive to the office and not arrive home until 5:30 or 6:00 pm. 8. What routine do the elderly have? From my perspective, most old people have a humdrum daily routine. They will start their day quite early, at the crack of dawn...then take medicine follow the doctor’s instructions and do some exercise to promote health. The old generation also goes to bed earlier than most youngsters these days and maintains a healthier lifestyle. This routine is quite repetitive and rigid, which could lead to senior boredom and stress. For those who have just retired from work, it could be hard to adjust to their daily routine without the structure and consistent routine of working. As a result, they could suffer from anxiety or depression, which could, later on, give rise to some serious diseases. 9. What are the benefits of having a routine for kids at school? If parents and schools join hands in establishing a routine for children at school and even at home, it could be advantageous to the child’s development. First, arriving at school on time can develop punctuality in kids. In fact, some parents in Vietnam often shrug off the importance of being on time so they often drive their offspring to school late, ignoring the school regulations. This could gradually form a bad habit in their children and negatively affect them in the working environment in the future. Secondly, following the school timetable helps kids to be more organized and could instill time management skills, which is essential when they grow up. Describe a festival or national holiday in your country Come to think of it, there’s one special holiday that immediately came to my mind, which is called the Vietnamese Lunar New Year or Tet Holiday. (When the festival occurs) Tet holidays are the first three days of January based on the lunar calendar, which normally falls on mid-February on the solar one. (What you did during it) Because Tet is the most important holiday in Vietnam, everybody is given 1 or 2 weeks' leave and during this period people will decorate their houses with flowers and ornaments, buy new clothes, and prepare some delicacies such as banh chung, banh tet. For youngsters like me, Tet is such a wonderful holiday since we can wear new clothes, receive lucky money and enjoy sweets without being scolded by our parents. (What you like or dislike about it) What I enjoy most during the Tet holiday is the electric and unique ambience. On Tet, we don’t have to go to school or finish assignments, all of our time is spent with family, and friends looking back on the old year, letting our hair down and recharging our batteries for the upcoming year. Normally, we pay New Year’s visits to our relatives, our parent’s colleagues and friends and go sightseeing for a few days. (Explain why this a festival or national holiday is important) The reason why Tet is considered the most crucial holiday in Vietnam is due to its historical origins and special values. Since Tet is a priceless tradition handed down from our ancestors, I truly treasure Tet and its customs. In the future, wherever I am, I will always return home and celebrate Tet with my beloved ones. Part3: 1. How do people in Vietnam value traditional festivals? The way I see it, Vietnamese people always cherish their time-honoured festivals. Possessing a rich history and various traditions imbued with national identity, it is our responsibility to preserve and maintain these festivals and customs, as well as introduce them to our international friends. Although life has gradually modernized, we still celebrate our traditional festivals to keep in mind the sacrifice and contribution of our ancestors and to pass down these priceless traditions to the younger generations. Having said that, there’re some harmful customs and festivals that our country is trying to eliminate to better our lives. 2. What’s the difference between the ways festivals are celebrated now and in the past? Personally, I think that people nowadays celebrate more festivals than in the past, which are the traditional and imported festivals from other countries as a result of globalization and integration. In terms of our nation’s traditional festivals, people these days still celebrate them annually but mostly for the preserving purpose instead of for their original meaning. My hometown, for instance, has a yearly festival celebrated by our ancestors to pray for rain since people used to suffer from drought back in the day. At present, with the aid of modern technologies and plumbing systems, the locals have enough water for irrigation and daily activities but we still celebrate this festival just because it represents history and culture.
