In this video, we are going to show you how to use the data encryption plugin to automatically encrypt record information in the database. First, let us see how data is stored in the database when the plugin is not installed. Here, we are in the leads module. There are multiple records saved here. You can also see the detailed view, the data is visible and readable as it should be on the user interface. Now, we’re going to select a bunch of records and export them in CSV. Open the downloaded file. As you can see, the lead's information is in a readable format because the plugin is not installed. Now, we have installed our plugin in the SuiteCRM. Step 1 is for license activation. By the time you install the plugin, we’ll automatically activate the license. Step 2 is configuration. Click on the create configuration option on the left. Give a suitable name to the setting. Then select the module in which you want to encrypt data. We’re selecting the leads module. After that, choose the fields that you would like to encrypt. We’re choosing the first and last name, email address, phone number, etc. Once done click on the save button. This is the module and respective fields that we selected. Now, we’ll again go to the leads module and export the records one more time. Open the downloaded file. The information you get in the fields of first and last name, email address, phone number, etc is encrypted, that is, unreadable. And that’s how you can easily encrypt CRM data.
