Yoichi Isagi's high school soccer team was seconds away from qualifying for the nationals had he scored a goal, but he decided to transfer the ball to a teammate instead, costing him the opportunity. Isagi, who is angry, perplexed, and dissatisfied, questions whether the result would have been different if he hadn't made the pass. A invitation from the Japan Football Union is waiting for the teenage striker when he gets home. Isagi is one of 300 U-18 strikers chosen through an arbitrary and prejudiced selection process for a contentious project called Blue Lock. The story opens with Japan being knocked out of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, which inspires the Japanese Football Union to launch a programme scouting high school players who will start practising for the 2022 Cup. Isagi Yoichi, a forward, was invited to this programme shortly after his team missed the opportunity to compete at Nationals because he passed to a teammate with less skill who missed rather than attempting to score the game-winning goal on his own. Ego Jinpachi, their coach, wants to "destroy Japanese loser football" by implementing a radical new training method. He will segregate 300 young forwards into "Blue Lock," a facility that resembles a prison, and subject them to rigorous training in order to produce "the world's greatest egotist striker." Characters in blue lock While the story is around 300 exceptional young soccer players competing for the top rank, "Blue Lock" really centres on a smaller group of individuals. The primary character is a young boy named Yoichi Isagi, who enters the tournament with the same intention as everyone else but is less confident in his abilities. Isagi gains confidence in himself as he develops and learns on the field. Along with Rensuke Kunigami, a player with a strong moral compass and a serious outlook on life and soccer, there is also Meguru Bachira, an Isagi friend who is often upbeat and lively and enjoys playing soccer with others. However, on occasion, his stubbornness gets the better of him. Hyoma Chigiri, a soccer player who endured a terrible accident in the past and developed a dread of getting harmed that impairs his soccer performance, completes the core cast of characters in "Blue Lock," though there will undoubtedly be other significant characters as well. Chigiri is inspired by Isagi to overcome his obstacles and give it his all during the game. What is Blue Lock about? In "Blue Lock," the Japanese Football Union makes the decision to construct a facility dubbed Blue Lock in response to the national team's dismal performance at the 2018 World Cup. 300 scouted high school soccer players will be housed there in an effort to make Japan's team for the 2022 World Cup. The programme is specifically looking for the best striker in the nation—someone who is so obsessively committed to the game and scoring goals that they will always succeed. One of the players chosen to participate in Blue Lock is Isagi. After costing his high school team a chance to win the national championship by passing to a teammate rather than moving up to attempt the shot himself, he is keen to establish himself as a quality player. However, after he arrives at the Blue Lock facility, Isagi understands how fierce and important the rivalry is. He continues to put his attention on playing soccer and making friends despite this. Each youngster at Blue Lock is competing against 299 other boys for one slot as a striker in a chaotic and tough training programme run by the narcissistic, victory-focused coach Jinpachi Ego. And if they are expelled? The athletes are barred from ever again trying out for the national squad.
