For a while now, I've been trying to find what interests me in a future career. Mainly I’m looking for a path that allows me to indulge in my creativity, hopefully using photography. I also wish to reach out of my comfort zone, utilizing speaking while becoming an activist. Then I have my favorite and most passionate path that I wish to follow, which would be my love for the ocean and helping marine conservation. Marine conservation is the action we take to prevent or stop a problem involving natural resources. Problems we see occurring in our oceans include pollution, commercial whaling, by-catching, overfishing, the burning of fossil fuels, and more. These issues can cause more significant harm, namely global warming/climate change and the destruction of our environment. I'm truly passionate about finding a career that allows me the freedom of an adventurous life while also being able to help others. When building a career, we need to be cautious of the world and realize that there are challenges we will face. My fears regarding photography and activism, consist of rejection, and how I might not succeed in the real world. I mainly see it as people throwing criticism around, and then we have others who lack compassion. I worry sometimes whether or not I'm going to face the reality of supporting myself financially. I ask myself, will you find a career you can simultaneously love and lean back on? Sadly, we're all forced to struggle, but it certainly doesn't mean we can't do something to fix it. The most important way to go around my question is to say that while we face challenges, we also have the capability to overcome them. We can put forth effort into anything, especially if we have a passion that drives it. Most recently, now that I'm envisioning a future for myself, I've learned ways to become a better person. One way that I'm trying involves searching for possible colleges. Right now, I'm interested in marine conservation and cetology, which is the study of whales, dolphins, and porpoises. Some of the most inspiring work I've been exposed to has been from watching videos online, reading research studies, and listening to podcasts. Topics I'm truly interested in learning about are what data scientists collect; are they studying migrational patterns and exploring how animals use frequencies to communicate?
