Chainsaw Man takes place in a brutal, gory world by most shonen standards, and the protagonists never have it easy. The male lead, Denji, suffered years of poverty and hunger while trying to repay a massive debt, only for his creditors to try to kill him with the zombie devil's power. Now, Denji has been reborn as Chainsaw Man. Denji has a second lease on life, and things are finally looking up. Both before and after becoming Chainsaw Man, Denji suffered many hardships, but there were also some perks in his life to feel good about. Even a downtrodden anti hero like Denji has a few things to brag or boast and that's what keeps his spirits up while fighting devils. 10. Denji Has Awesome Chainsaw Devil Powers. Denji was just an ordinary teenage boy until he suddenly gained cool supernatural powers. Denji died at the zombie devil's hands, only for his pet devil, Pochita, to fuse with him and grant him the power of three chainsaw blades. Denji is a bizarre human-devil hybrid, different from and stronger than regular fiends like Power and Beam. Denji has lots of fun fighting with his cool new powers, and these chainsaw powers also make it easier for him to defend himself against humans and devils alike. 9. Denji Has The Potential To Get Even Stronger. Denji can only fuse with one devil to gain powers, but that doesn't mean he is done getting stronger as Chainsaw Man. For now, in the anime, Denji just makes use of his three blades, but then he will discover his true powers later in the Chainsaw Man manga. Denji will have fun powering up yet again with the original chainsaw devil power, granting him five total blades and a stronger form with which to fight any devil foe. Fiends like Power and Beam can't easily upgrade themselves like that, but Denji can, and it's a unique perk for him as a fighter. 8. Denji Can Heal By Ingesting Blood. Some fictional heroes can heal themselves during a fight, like X-Men's Wolverine. Denji can heal himself, too, though he needs to ingest blood to fuel his devilish regeneration powers in a fight. Even if Denji loses a limb, he can seamlessly reattach it if he consumes enough blood. This gives Denji a serious advantage over any human foe and makes him far more resilient in battle. He has gone far beyond getting blood transfusions in the hospital. Now, as Chainsaw Man, he can seal any wound and get back into fighting shape with unusual ease. And with his chainsaws, he can easily shed more blood to consume. 7. Denji Can Show Off His Skills On The Job. Denji is a somewhat humble kid, but he also likes to take action and impress everyone with what he can do. Denji genuinely enjoys fighting devils and wants to make something of himself, so being Chainsaw Man the devil hunter is a dream come true. Denji can have fun showing off his formidable chainsaw skills and powers to other devil hunters, such as Himeno and even Aki. Denji is tired of being an obscure nobody who's helpless against the mob. Now, he's strong and can take great pleasure in proving that fact to his friends and foes alike. 6. Denji Now Has A Stable Job. Some anime characters lack a job, and others work unpleasant or boring jobs that they don't like. Fortunately for him, Denji isn't working a low-paying fast food job or working in an office cubicle. He has stable work fighting as a devil hunter. Denji needs money and a purpose, and his new job provides both. Denji was forced into this job and can't easily quit, but he wouldn't want to quit anyway. Denji is securely employed for the first time in his difficult life, complete with a free uniform and a charming boss, Makima, to report to. 5. Denji Can Sample New Foods For Free. Denji was often food insecure growing up, barely able to afford plain bread, let alone jam to spread on it. From his point of view, ordinary meals are a banquet, and that means eating regular food is a major perk for him. Aki Hayakawa the tsundere thinks nothing of breakfast, but Denji loves it. Denji often eats for free, or at least for cheap, at Aki's house, which is a serious boon. He has fun sampling everything in Aki's apartment and scored free udon when Makima met him. Denji's flesh is healed with blood, but his mind is soothed with the taste of real food. 4. Denji Now Has Allies To Back Him Up. Denji used to be a total loner while he was growing up, but not anymore. Denji is one of many public safety employees, meaning he has many co-workers to support him, from the horned fiend Power to Aki and a handful of new faces. Shonen heroes always need teams of friends, and now Denji has one, too. On a personal level, having Aki, the cheerful Himeno, and even Power on his side makes Denji less lonely, which is good for him mentally. This also means Denji can count on backup in case things gosideways in the never-ending battle against devils. 3. Denji Had Pochita For Companionship. Denji had no human friends in the years leading up to his rebirth as Chainsaw Man. However, he did have Pochita the devil pet's companionship, and that meant a lot to Denji when he was at his lowest point. Denji had no friends, family, or money, but he had that loyal chainsaw dog. This led to a wholesome "a boy and his dog" scenario that kept Denji happy in a bleak situation. Having Pochita around also ensured that Denji had decent work cutting down trees for his clients, even if that barely made a dent in his debt. He wouldn't have gotten very far without this canine devil. 2. Makima Is Genuinely Fond Of Denji. Even though Makima is actually the villainous control devil, she genuinely cares for Denji and is immensely fond of him as Chainsaw Man. Denji liked Makima right back during the early phase of their partnership, and he was much happier just being in the same room as her. Denji felt like a very lucky boy to have a beautiful, cool, and responsible lady like Makima as his boss. He wouldn't hesitate to follow her orders, and that was doubly true when Makima laid on the charm to manipulate him. At one point, Makima even let Denji touch her chest, which made him even happier. 1. Denji Enjoyed His Fame As Chainsaw Man Later On. Denji suffered terrible losses when Power and Makima both died, but he had the emotional resilience to move on and continue his career as Chainsaw Man. Denji was at the top of his bloody game when the Asa Mitaka arc began, and countless fans cheered him on. Denji was like a chainsaw Spider-Man; even though Denji had his critics, he reveled in the attention. Few Chainsaw Man characters could have become celebrities like that, but Denji managed it and wants more. He hopes to reveal his true identity so even more people will know and adore him.
