Frank Bello, the bassist for ANTHRAX, discussed the status of the songwriting sessions for the group's follow-up to 2016's "For All Kings" album on this past Wednesday's (November 16) episode of Sirius XM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk." We're not in a rush, which is a fantastic thing about this, he stated (as reported by BLABBERMOUTH.NET). We want to confirm that it is the correct record. We cannot simply discard unfinished items. We will thus take great care to ensure that it is the proper record and give it some time to settle in. We've been working on some hard, violent, and cool material that will be released soon. That is a statement anyone making a record can make. But the pudding is what counts. I'm proud of the solutions we've so far developed." Scott Ian, the guitarist for ANTHRAX, commended the albums' production values in August of last year. These albums included "Worship Music" from 2011 and "For All Kings" from 2012. We've really kind of discovered our sound, in my opinion, on "Worship [Music]" and "For All Kings," he remarked. We already know it's going to be fantastic at this base level, and with [producer] Jay Ruston's help, we could take it even farther. The songwriting we currently have, especially for the next new ANTHRAX album, absolutely begs for an even more violent production, which I believe we won't have any trouble pulling off." Scott told Metal Injection in April that ANTHRAX had already written a couple tracks for the forthcoming LP. All he could say was that they would enter the studio when they were prepared, which he hoped would be this year. "I'd adore that. We appear to be making progress. I think our tunes are fantastic. I believe that everyone will be delighted. "We've collaborated with [singer] Joey [Belladonna] on three records now, not to draw any strange comparisons. It's a strange analogy, in fact. Just to clarify, 'Among The Living' was our third album back in the day. This is our third album overall since our sort of revival in 2010. I'm not claiming that this album is similar to previous one because it isn't in any way "Among The Living II," but I just think we have some amazing songs and a mountain of great riffs. The public will likely be extremely content. ANTHRAX's upcoming album was previously discussed by Ian when he appeared on Full Metal Jackie's widely broadcast radio show in July 2021. We've been working on it for a little while now, he stated at the time. We actually began writing in 2019 — prior to COVID — and took a break when COVID occurred. We weren't actively working on it because we were all separate from one another and would only occasionally revisit some of the demos. Yes, he responded, "it's the same as it's always been." "By the time we finish writing it and decide that we are ready to record it, I would have to presume that it will undoubtedly reflect this period of time in our lives. And given that the world recently had a pandemic, I would assume that this record will in some way, shape, or form reflect that. Although I am unable to say how just now, I have to believe it will." ANTHRAX held a series of unique events and activities to commemorate its 40th anniversary in 2021. One of the first thrash metal bands to form on the East Coast, ANTHRAX was founded by Ian and bassist Dan Lilker in Queens, New York, on July 18, 1981. Alongside METALLICA, SLAYER, and MEGADETH, ANTHRAX immediately rose to prominence as a leader in the genre. ANTHRAX has been active for the past fifty years, releasing eleven studio albums, receiving Grammy nominations, multiple gold and platinum certifications, and touring the globe since 1984, performing thousands of shows, including headlining Madison Square Garden and playing Yankee Stadium with the "Big Four." Some reviewers hailed "For All Kings" as ANTHRAX's best record to date. Following a five-year period in which the band had a sort of rebirth, culminating in ANTHRAX's inclusion on the "Big Four" tour and continuing with the publication of comeback album "Worship Music," it finally made its appearance.
