Dear friends: It is my honor and pleasure on behalf of NICE to jointly hold today’s “Sino-Nordic Elderly Care Forum” with Innovation Center Denmark Shanghai. Thanks for the support from Business Finland, Business Sweden, Innovation Norway, and Embassy of Iceland. Recently, Chinese government is increasingly investing in the elderly care industry, and in the meanwhile, Healthy China 2030 Initiative has highlighted the elderly group, including health service to elderly group, chronic disease prevention and management, as well as mental health management etc. Today’s forum will provide a communication opportunity between Nordic and Chinese stakeholders in the field of elderly care. Our organisaion National Innovation Centre par Excellence (NICE in short) is a comprehensive technology innovation hub in the region of Yangtze River Delta jointly built by Jiangsu, Anhui and Zhejiang provinces and Shanghai city. It is dedicated to gather high-level innovation resources, to focus on technology transformation for the industrial development and to serve as a bridge connecting global innovation elements to Yangtze River Delta region. Besides, the Shanghai Yangtze Delta Innovation Institute and the Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute (JITRI) are the founding institutions of the National Innovation Centre par Excellence (NICE). We have by now 80 specialized institutes and more than 200 enterprise joint innovation centers. There are more than 70 oversea partners in the world including Sino-Danish-Center, the university partnership organisation between China and Denmark. As is well-known, Scandinavian countries being globally competitive in its life sciences business. Health and social care for the elderly are important parts of Scandinavian welfare policy. Of particular relevance today, we have the honor to witness outstanding innovative life science products and comprehensive service within elderly care incubated by Scandinavian universities, research institutes and enterprises. We look forward to further enhancing effective communications and fruitful cooperation between the Yangtze Delta and Scandinavian region in the elderly care industry. Innovation Centre Denmark has been a valuable partner. We have been actively working on several potential collaborations including industry-university partnership between Denmark and China. Nowadays we are facing many global challenges including climate change, pollution and energy supply. Health including elderly care is one of the important challenges we are facing. For National Innovation Centre par Excellence (NICE), we are committed to join forces through global partnership to tackle these challenges. Today, New assisted-living technology plays an important role in elderly care. Every day, a range of solutions help improve the quality of life for elderly citizens and support healthcare professionals in creating an efficient, high-quality framework for care, rehabilitation, and prevention. The innovative solutions we discussed today have been developed to empower elderly citizens, giving them a more active role in their own treatment, assisting them in their daily routines, and keeping them connected, active, and physically safe. These innovative solutions, which also facilitate improved communication and information sharing between caregivers, citizens, and their families, are important enablers for the comprehensive home-nursing support of elderly citizens in their own homes. Through collaboration, we hope these innovative solutions can be more widely implemented to support elderly citizens in China and Scandinavia.
