Being a part of the Biketrix tech support team for almost 2 years, one of the issues I deal with on regular basis is my bike is dead. So how do I handle such tickets? In my first response, I ask a few basic questions as below. Is the battery fully charged? Does the display turn on? When did you see the issue the first time? Did you notice anything unusual before the issue occurred? Once I have the answer to the above questions, say for example yes, the battery is fully charged as I checked with a voltmeter. The display is not turning on after I stored my bike in the shed for 3 weeks. so now we need to deep dive into the issue but we always check if this bike is a year old or not. If the bike is still within warranty then we send a replacement display to try. So far 6 out of 10 cases the replacement display fixes the issue. But we are not always that lucky. so we book a video call with a customer. On the day of the video call, we open up the cover plate that holds all plugs in the cavity of the bike. Here we look for the power cable that carries volts from the battery to the motor controller. Please note the wire setup can be different from bike to bike. In most cases, we see a dualizer between the battery & motor controller. So we check the output volts at the plugs that give power to the dualizer input and repeat the same step on the dualizer output. If we get volts at the dualizer input & not at the dualizer output then the issue can be with the dualizer. But if we get voltage at dualizer output then it confirms the battery is delivering the power to dualizer & dualizer itself is in good condition. This concludes the issue is with the motor controller that needs fixing. if this is a mid-drive motor then we get the motor back for service & return. For the hub drive, we send the controller & if that won't fix the issue then we will get the rear wheel, the controllers and the display back for service & return. This may sound simple but having this performed on the video call with poor video quality we do run into other issues like damaging the parts that were working just fine.
