My boyfriend (18) is currently in infantry training in the marines. He is injured and lovesick and really wants to come home. I can tell its getting harder for him to keep his head up and stay positive. A couple weeks ago I started falling asleep during a facetime call and I could hear him saying "awww you're adorable" and "I love you so much." He thinks I cant hear him when he talks to himself while Im "sleeping" and I can hear the happiness and life return to his voice when he sees that Ive fallen asleep talking to him. Since then, if I can tell hes in a lot of pain or in a particularly bad mood, I will at some point pretend to have fallen asleep so he has something to smile about. He hasnt caught on yet and I hope he never does. I know when he gets home I will not have to do this anymore so it is temporary, but I do sometimes feel bad about lying. I just want to pick his day up a little bit if I can.
