Johnny Lane, 84, had expletives scratched into his car whilst he took his great-grandchildren to Los Angeles (Picture: Kennedy News) A family is raging after swear words were scratched onto their great-granddad’s car following a row over parking. After parking outside his granddaughter’s house to take her children on a three-month trip to Los Angeles, Johnny Lane’s car had ‘f**k off you a***hole’ and ‘t**t’ scratched into the paintwork, alongside slashed tyres. The 84-year-old has been left driving around with the swear words etched across his seven-seater Ford Galaxy since July as he cannot afford the £900 to fix it. Granddaughter Emma Ewen, 41, said cars are regularly parked outside her property in Urmston, Greater Manchester, without any issue and she even asked permission from her neighbours. She said: ‘When he parked there on the day they were flying to LA, he knocked on one of the houses and told the gentleman that the car was going to be there for three months and this gentleman said “absolutely, no problem”. ‘The two back tyres had been slashed and awful, horrendous swear words had been written all over the vehicle – quite deeply scratched in. I was just shocked. I was horrified. ‘Then I couldn’t even move the car as the two back tyres were slashed and I didn’t want to cause any damage to the car.’ The vehicle had been in the spot for two weeks when the vandalism happened. Even a valet service was unsuccessful in trying to buff out the scratches (Picture: Kennedy News and Media) Repairing the damage to the car will cost £900, which Mr Lane says he cannot afford (Picture: Kennedy News and Media) The great-granddad, pictured here with his great-grandson Ashton Knights, 17, has no choice but to drive the damaged car (Picture: Kennedy News and Media) Despite reporting the incident, the police say there is nothing they can do as there is no CCTV in the area. After seeing Emma’s social media post about the incident a local valeting business owner kindly recovered Johnny’s car and replaced the slashed tyres free of charge. But unfortunately they were unable to buff the deep scratches and the pensioner will now have to save up. Emma said: ‘They tried to buffer it to get rid of the graffiti but the scratches were too deep. ‘He’s still driving around with it like that because it’s £900 worth of damage.’ Greater Manchester Police confirmed that the case was closed as there were no lines of inquiry to be investigated.
