The importance of when the beginning of the body of Christ began affects theology and application because it causes confusion and creates enmity amongst believers. Paul reiterates this point saying, “Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were ye baptized in the name of Paul? ” (1 Corinthians 1:13, KJV, 1769). The Mid-Acts view on when the church began is important for the body of Christ. Some do not acknowledge the three rejections of God by the Jews found in the Old Testament, Gospels and Acts. The first reason is the VIEW THAT IT STARTED IN MATTHEW Along with this misinterpretation and wrong application of when the church began comes other verses being incorporated and applied, such as salvation based on works and following the law and the Holy Spirit. The second important application the church began in Mid-Acts would lose if not properly divided would be the working of the Holy Spirit in the believers life. There are some practices and beliefs that claim it began at Pentecost. This example of not discerning when the body of Christ began affects the power and workings of the Holy Spirit. The third reason this view is Biblical and dispensationally correct is evident in the scriptures that describe salvation based on grace alone “not of works lest any man boast” (Ephesians 2:9, KJV, 1769).
