Bleeding is the loss of blood. It can be external, or outside the body, like when you get a cut or wound. It can also be internal, or inside the body, like when you have an injury to an internal organ. Cover the wound with sterile gauze or a clean cloth. Press on it firmly with the palm of your hand until bleeding stops. But don't press on an eye injury or embedded object. Don't press on a head wound if you suspect a skull fracture. Confusion or decreasing alertness. Clammy skin. Dizziness or light headedness after an injury. Low blood pressure. Paleness (pallor) Rapid pulse (increased heart rate) Shortness of breath. Weakness.
