Welcome to the John Deere Financial training module “Navigating the Merchant Toolkit.” This module is part of a series of self-study training opportunities focusing on the Multi-Use Account and incorporating John Deere Financial products and services into your daily sales process. Efficient use of the Merchant Toolkit will help you enhance your productivity each day. All of the ways you can do business with your Multi-Use Account are consolidated in one place: the Merchant Toolkit. Available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, it provides a point-of-sale system that simplifies transaction processing and provides accurate records for your business and your customers. Multiple users within your business can have access to the Merchant Toolkit, but each user will need their own username and password. Individuals should set up a profile, create a username and password, then provide their username and email address to their Administrator, who will then provide access to Toolkit and assign the applicable role needed to perform their work functions. To access the Merchant Toolkit, go to www.Deere.com/Toolkit in the US, or www.Deere.ca/Toolkit in Canada, and click Sign In. The Multi-Use sign-in screens will appear. Begin by entering your Username and Password. You will be required to confirm your log-in with Multi-Factor Authentication, via one of three factors of your choice: text message, phone call, or the Okta Verify app. Review the definition and purpose displayed on the screen. Using the dropdown, follow the prompts to select a Business Associate, a Role, and a Store (if applicable). You will then be taken to the Merchant Toolkit screen. Each time you log in, scan the Status Center to be notified of items that may require action. The News Center shows updates that have been made to the Merchant Toolkit. The View News Center Archive link is where you’ll find archived messages that are relevant to your business. Now let’s examine the three sections of information contained in the Merchant Toolkit. In your Toolkit, you’ll see the Online Transaction Center, Tools, and Special Program sections. Learning to navigate these sections will give you access to the information and instructions you need. The Online Transaction Center is a web-based transaction processing center that helps Multi-Use Account merchants to transact their business more efficiently. Learning to navigate the Online Transaction Center helps you find the information you need to process your transactions so that submitting and viewing them will be quick and easy. You can submit many types of transactions through the Online Transaction Center: Submit purchases for general farm supplies, parts & service, and crop inputs, like seed and fertilizer. Refund finance charges on a customer’s account, or correct a billing error. Request authorization numbers, without submitting the transaction. Cancel existing authorizations obtained through the Online Transaction Center. Submit payments. Search for and display transactions that were initiated through the Online Transaction Center. Information on Approved Purchases and Credits is available for 18 months. If you have questions, check out the User Manual, a valuable resource that provides answers to questions you may have as you enter transactions. Let’s take a look! In the Online Transaction Center’s Table of Contents, review each topic for descriptions and details. Once you’re ready to submit a transaction, choose from the list on the left to proceed with submitting purchases or credits, requesting and canceling authorizations, submitting payments, or viewing your transactions. The Tools section of the Merchant Toolkit contains user-friendly tools to simplify your business, increase your sales, and decrease your expenses. The more commonly used Tools are: Reports All of your reports are available in the Merchant Toolkit, including your Settlement Notice, Customer Management reports, and the Customer Name and Account list. (Note: Only the reports you have access to will be displayed.) Customer Lookup is used to find existing customers and look up new customers, to complete a transaction, or see if they have a Multi-Use Account. Order Supplies Most US and Canada merchants can order their own Multi-Use Account supplies, including applications, forms, guides, and marketing materials. Operating Procedures & Merchant Obligations Everything you need to know about the Merchant Toolkit is provided here. When you have questions about reports, forms, or procedures, the procedure manual provides easy-to-understand instructions and answers, available to you 24-hours a day. The Special Programs section includes valuable tools to enhance your business. You may see slightly different options in this section depending on the products you offer. Program Lookup lets US merchants review all the Multi-Use programs currently available to your business. You can see the types of programs, start and end dates, customer eligibility, minimum purchase requirements, transaction details and more. These programs will help you increase sales, accelerate cash flow and decrease expenses. Canadian merchants will find this information in the Advertising/Marketing Toolbox. Customer Loyalty Programs help drive customer loyalty and increase sales volume by way of customizable rewards programs. The Advertising/Marketing Toolbox link will help you grow your sales opportunities. This section provides information on current programs. In addition, there is the Advertising and Logo section that lists guidelines for using the John Deere logo and an Advertising Checklist to help you create marketing materials. Select my Programs lets you choose and customize your programs online. You can select, customize, and brand your Special Terms programs from a variety of options available to your marketplace. (Canadian merchants do not have access to this function.) Create marketing materials with Promote My Programs. US merchants can select promotional materials to use with each program, then customize and brand their message. In minutes, you can create and order a customized communication for distribution to your customers, including postcards, brochures, and counter stock.
