As a soldier I had limited food and the food that I had to eat was a very scarce ration. I would have them as a snack before I leave and when I was hiding this was so I was able to get some energy into me quickly and this food consisted of nuts, bread etc. As soldiers, we were hardly appreciated for our dangerous work in training and on the battlefield. Most outsiders were unaware of fatality rates we would face at war. It seemed the only ones to care about our efforts were the familys and friends we left behind.
