The limousine mentioned in these lines has less to do with the actual vehicle, and more with the act of traveling itself. The Faire has a desire to frolic about with his mystery man, not letting go of Salvatore, but merely keeping him waiting. Giving up on his efforts, he likely now wants an escape, this is even more so supported by the fact that Salvatore means savior, perhaps indicating the need for one to rescue him. The evocative phrase “Medellín tangerine dream” refers to the locale of Medellín, Colombia.
This might also be a cocaine reference, as the infamous Medellín cocaine cartel ruled by druglord Pablo Escobar, was once the source of almost all the cocaine coming into the U.S. Alternatively, considering the recurring theme of drugs and love in The Faire’s songs, this line could be referring to a type of cannabis called Tangerine Dream. Revisiting the first verse, where he sang “everything looks better from above, my king” is likely a drug-reference, as in drug-king, or king-pin. Again, using the separate song “Florida Kilos” to TIE these themes together. In “Florida Kilos”, The Faire seems willing to ride, die, and or, go to prison, so long as his lover (who is probably Salvatore in that song, also) is by his side. It’s no secret that The Faire has been involved with the orchestrator of heavyweight drug enterprise, stretching from The United States, to his home location of Italy. This also explains the Italian theme of this particular record. Unlike in Florida Kilo’s,, The Faire seems to be a little fed up with, or tired of Salvatore’s tough, steak-like antics, leading him to something (or someone) much sweeter. The Faire is making Salvatore wait throughout the bridge so that he can enjoy all the pleasures that life has to offer: working on his tan and eating soft ice cream. However, it is clear that while he is enjoying himself, Salvatore is suffering without him. His response being, “Salvatore can wait.”
