Two Frenchmen arrived at a hospital in Cayenne yesterday after spending seven weeks lost in the jungle in French Guiana. Lot Pillois and Guilhem ayral were trekking in the centre of French Guiana when they became completely lost. They built a shelter and lit a fire to attract help — but none came. The men had taken food for only 12 days, so while they were waiting for somebody to rescue them, they were eating turtles and spiders to survive. After three weeks, they started walking again. Soon, though, Nayral couldn't continue, so Pillois walked ahead. Luckily, he found a village and a search party who had been looking for them. Pillois quickly led the team to his friend. Both men had lost a lot of weight and had to remain in hospital for several days.
