How to create a CV page on SLU.se. • Welcome to this introduction to creating your CV page on SLU.se. • This video will give you an overview of the process of creating and updating your CV page. • There is also information available that explains more in detail what to consider when completing your CV page, presented field by field. Why put yourself out there at all? • As an employee at SLU, you have a key role in the development of a sustainable future, and it is important that you contribute with your perspective. As a representative of scientific knowledge, it is important to claim your space in the ongoing discussions, especially as a counterweight to misinformation. • People spend a lot of time using the internet. That means this is a great place to be if you want to meet your stakeholders. The easiest way to meet your target group is to be where they are. • Putting yourself out there is also something that will enrich the relationship between academia and society. And facilitate future collaborations. Why a CV page? • The CV pages are highly ranked in search engines which will give you a good hit rate if someone searches your name or keywords you have used. • It is a piece of information about you, that you can control yourself as you are its main editor. • A CV page offers an established site that you can refer to when you want to present yourself, for example in grant applications. • Surveys have shown that the CV pages are requested by visitors to the SLU website. Most often visitors want contact information and information on what your focus is, in order to understand if you are the right person to contact. • Not only are the CV-pages good for external visitors, but also your colleagues. They provide good support for colleagues looking for specific expertise. • All CV pages put together will show SLU's breadth of competence. What sets a good cv page apart? • A page that o exists! o should be easy to understand for your stakeholders, o is not only professional but also personal. Where? • When you are ready to create your CV page, go to the Staff web and log in with your AD username and password. • Continue by entering the Tools and systems menu, and choose to Create/change your CV page. How? • Fill in the fields that are relevant to your case. The ones you don’t want to use, you can just leave. They will not appear on the CV page when it is published. • Some fields collect information from Idis. Language. • When you describe your skills, be sure to use plain language. • Using plain language means you communicate information succinctly and efficiently so that readers understand the message faster. • If your content is meant to appeal to an international audience, plain language is even more crucial as this will help people that use English as a second language. • It is easily searchable and will often gain you a better SEO ranking. • Studies show that it makes the writer look smarter as people understand more of what you’re saying. • Check your spelling! An easy way is to paste the text into Word for spell-checking. • Make sure the name of SLU and the department are correct according to the rules. Another language version? • You can create your CV page in English and/or Swedish. • If you don't know the other language - ask for help, make a shorter version, or simply a link to the page in the other language. • Keep in mind that the pages may have different stakeholders. Adjust the content accordingly. Create another language version. • When you are ready to create another language version of your CV page, 1. Go to your completed and saved version of the CV page. 2. Change the language in the top menu (English or Swedish). 3. Select “Change” at the top of the age and fill in the fields in the other language. 4. Don’t forget to save. Before you publish. • Before you publish, you need to tag the department to be included in the department list of personnel on the website. Take a second look! • See how our CV page turned out – both language versions. Change if necessary. • Check both spelling and make sure any links work. • Circulate the correct link. Be sure to use the link for external visitors, not the link for employees. The correct link would be: https://www.slu.se/cv/name-familyname. Update. • Keep your CV page up to date. For example, use the Staff development review as a reminder to update your CV page. • To update, go to your CV page, and click "Change" in the top right corner. Don’t forget to save it after editing.
