After directing Horror movies like : House of Wax, Orphan, and The Shallows,and thriller films like : Unknown, Non-Stop, Run All Night, and The Commuter, the Spanish-American film director and producer , Jaume Collet-Serra has come up with the most jaw-dropping movie of this year “ The Black Adam”. It’s also one of those movie for which Dwayne Johnson , the lead actor has been preparing for the past sixteen years. The movie written by : Adam Sztykiel, Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani features : Dwayne Johnson as Teth-Adam or Black Adam; Aldis Hodge as Carter Hall or Hawkman ; Pierce Brosnan as Kent Nelson or Dr. Fate; Noah Centineo as Atom- Smasher ; Sarah Shahi as Adrianna Tomaz ; Marwan Kenzari as Ishmael Gregor or Sabbac ; Quintessa Swindell as Maxine Hunkel or Cyclone and Bodhi Sabongui as Amon Tomaz. Produced by New Line Cinema, DC Films, Seven Bucks Productions with a Budget ranging from dollar 195-200 million , the movie has successfully raised dollar 67 million in the first week after it was released on 21st October 2022. Although the film was supposed to be released on December of 2021 , Pandemic and other factors might have pushed the release date. The movie is based on DCEU characters with amazing supernatural powers. Black Adam , the lead character is known for his Speed like that of Flash and Strength and Flying abilities like that of Superman. Hawk-Man is known for his power of flight. Atom Smasher is known for his ability to grow into enormous size. Cyclone is known for her wind controlling ability. And finally, Dr. Fate is known for possessing a magical Helmet with the help of which he can predict the future. He is also capable of telepathy. The characters : Cyclone and Atom Smasher has been added as addendum to make the movie look spicy and hot rather than serving a real purpose. The costumes worn by these characters are simply unbelievable. Although, in majority of DCEU characters padded costumes are made, for Black Adam no padding was incorporated in the costumes and all of his muscle mass is a pure reflection of his 16 years of hard work in the gym. Both Dwayne Johnson and Pierce Brosnan have revealed that “ Black Adam” has been their one and only landmark movie they have acted in throughout their film career. The movie is based around a tyrant king of Kahndaq, an ancient Egyptian city where Black Adam was born. The king wanted to possess a crown made of the matter “Eternium” which will bestow him with the demonic power to rule all over the world. There in the same kingdom is a child who wants to end the slavery from the tyrant king. So, he was chosen by the wizard “Shazam” and the “Council of Eternity” and bestowed upon all of their powers. But soon his parents are encaptivated by the tyrant king, his mother dies and the son saves his father ( Black Adam) by giving all his gained powers. In the mean time the son dies. So, Black Adam gets enraged and kills the king , his uncontrollable rage also leads to mass destruction of other innocent civilians. This leads to outrage among the Wizard and the Council of Eternity who cages “Black Adam” to distant planet. After 5000 years, once an Arcaheologist named Adrianna , in search of the crown comes across the magical word “Shazam”, then Black Adam gets released from the cage and reaches to her. There he saves Adrianna from thugs who are also after the crown. On the other hand, the release of Black Adam from the cage leads to anxiety among the “ Justice Society” who wants to make sure that no life is killed due to activities by Black Adam. So, on one hand Black Adam is fighting to save Kahndaq from the thugs who were after the crown and wanted to cause harm to the world, whereas, on the other hand, the Justice Society characters were trying to stop him to prevent civilian casualties. Ultimately, the thugs get killed and Black Adam surrenders to the Justice Society and gets caged again in some secret location. However, later Adrianna and the Justice Society will come to know that the Villian ( Sabbac) who was dead with the crown in his hand was successful in gaining demonic power and was revived again in Hell. So, the characters of the Justice society tries to fight and kill Sabbac. Soon they will realize that the task was too much for them to accomplish and so they revive Black Adam , who ultimately kills Sabbac. After, that the civilians of Kahndaq are happy with Black Adam . However, still the head of the Justice Society fears of Black Adam leaving Kahndaq and causing havoc elsewhere, So Black Adam is ordered to stay in Kahndaq. This enforcement causes wrath in Black Adam and the head of the Justice Society threatens Black Adam and sends Superman to take control of Black Adam. The movie then ends with leaving the audience impatient about what will happen next. Surely,next film that we can expect is a sequel in which the two DCEU characters: Superman and Black Adam entangles before resolving the matter. The film is full of violence or action and has been therefore rated PG-13. It has been categorized under Action, Adventure, Fantasy and Sci-fi. Full of thrill and adventure, the movie is a complete entertainment package . I rate the movie 8 out of 10.
