The Blinding Lies Tuesday, February 9th,1978 The sun was shining over the melting snow in beautiful Baltimore,children outside still trying to preserve their time in the snow before it melts away like it was never there.The most spectacular blue house on the block stood tall and firm behind the beautiful lushes red roses Ms.weber had been planting since sunday.It never occurred to anyone that she was planting during winter but the roses where so perfect that when you look at them the give the illusion of a fresh breeze of spring air.Life seemed perfect,but what the people of Maryland weren’t ready for was the most horrific cold case known to human beings.Harlen,a honest boy with pure intentions he was very helpful in the community many of the local children looked up to him so it was very odd and unnerving when head officer Theo and a few other officers found a dead mutilated body in a ditch in the woods not far from the seemingly perfect neighborhood that was identified as Harlen Weber. A couple of hikers tipped the cops they said “It reeks of a dead corpse by the pond” of course the police knew if there was a body it would be best to search by the close ground near the pond as you wouldn't be able to smell the body if it was under the pond.After some searching the officers found the body and that’s when the a metal ball came crashing through the perfect baltimore neighborhood like it was thin glass.Everyone who lived in the area was questioned but that process didn’t come with anything of good use most of the responses from the residents where about how they didnt know why anyone would want to harm someone as sweet as harlen. the whole neighborhood was deranged and couldn’t wrap their heads around the murder neither could the people in charge of the case.Harlens mother went into a horrible depression after just a few weeks she looked as if she hadnt eatin since the day she got the horrible news.Everyone knew her as Ms.Weber and just like her son was very helpful in the community. After sometime the lead investigators still didn't have anything to go off of,there were no weapons or items that could carry and fingerprints and no damage to the surrounding area so the only conclusion they could come to was Harlen must of been dead then brought to the wooded area and buried under sticks and leaves,whoever killed him made sure to be very careful and presigites with the disposing of the body.The autopsy revealed that he was brutally beaten,knocked unconscious dissected in the lower stomach area and his head was severely injured.The examiners came to the conclusion that the case of death was either brain damage or the blood drainage from his stomach.It was so bad the examiners had to sew his body up right after the examination some were traumatized by the image of burst open intestines and leaking guts.Since it was undecided of which killed him first they also concluded that there was more than one person involved and since Harlen didnt give anyone a reason to kill him it was decided that it had been a set up murder.With no clues or leads Harlens case was sadly confined as a cold case and the people who where close to Harlen where greaty encouraged to try to move on and heal from this lost.But some people where greatly affected by Harlens death.Two detectives from Virgina who were close friends of Harlens dad who had passed away in 1960 heard about Harlens death being cut off as a cold case and decieded that they where gonna take the case and felt thats what his father would have wanted.Givin all the files they had on Harlens case and early life they got to work.These detectives where known as virginas best aka “the Leen team” because there names where Casey- ann Neel and Haoyu Jong Lee. Sunday, March 21, 1978 After the long ride down to Baltimore detective Lee and detective Neel got settled down in a small motel ordered chinese take out and got straight to work.After eating that repulsive egg foo young Detective Lee came up with what you would call a light bulb moment.His bright might idea might have been what they needed to get the case on a fresh track,all they needed was the names of Harlens friends and his closest friends throughout school.Detective Neel called Ms.Weber but there was no answer so she called again,still no answer she tried one more time with her fingers crossed as the ringback tone come on,it picked up,there was an intense pause then the the phone hung up and the loud noise startled detective neel.As she thought to herself how odd it was the Ms.Weber hadnt picked up the phone and how it was so unlike her,detective Lee was on the toilet doing things we shall not discuss but lets just say it did not smell very pretty. Two days later the detectives drove down to the palmer hills neighborhood to try and question Ms.Weber but she was not home.Detective Lee felt something wasn’t right and asked a few neighbors and they all said “you havent heard the news,Ms.Weber has been missing for over a week”. After hearing this it stunned detective Neel,the thought of who had answered the phone two days ago if she wasnt home was all that rendered her mind.Detectective Lee snapped detective Neel back into reality.Immedeitly detective Lee made his way for the car shouting for detective neel to hurry up so they can go get donuts and ramen.Turns out he meant a donut and ramen buffet. ”Do you have to get a bowl of EVERY flavour noodle Haoyu ?”. He ate 13 different flavors of noodles and had 5 donuts.
