Rwandans are not banned from going to Dubai - Embassy The Embassy of Rwanda in the United Arab States (the UAE has the famous city of Dubai) denies that Rwandans are given visas (rights) to visit that country as it was done for citizens of other countries including those from Nigeria. Nigerians, along with those from 19 other African countries, have been barred from traveling to Dubai after a study by the United Arab Emirates found the country to be notorious for violence and prostitution. The Embassy of Rwanda in Dubai says that the announcements in various newspapers that Rwandans have the right (visa) to visit the United Arab States, are lies that mislead people. A statement issued by the Embassy of Rwanda in the United Arab States on the morning of October 26, 2022 states that "Rwanda citizens will continue to receive all types of visas issued by the UAE, including visiting visas." The Embassy of Rwanda is urging Rwandans to go along with the changes in the beginning of the visa to go to the United Arab States, as contained in the new regulations of that country approved on October 3, 2022. According to the Rwandan Embassy, among the changes introduced by the UAE for people to be allowed to go to Dubai is to first indicate the hotel where a person will stay during his stay, as well as to indicate on his ticket when he will leave and return home. If a person wants to stay there, he/she is required to show a letter from the host showing his/her address, phone numbers and a copy of his/her ID or Passport. He is going to the United Arab States and is required to show that he has enough money to support him, at least AED 5000 (the currency used in that country). The website www.icp.gov.ae of the United Arab Emirates Agency for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports, continues to provide detailed information on visa applicants.
