My name is Selloane Pitikoe. I am presenting a proposal which is entitled male and female lecturers experiences of gender digital divide in material design, and delivery in the University of Esawtini. Background The focus of my studies is on unequal access to in use of handheld digital tools for online material design and teaching among male and female lecturers in higher education institutions in Eswatini. In the wake of COVID-19 mandated a paradigm shift from traditional teaching to online learning. In Eswatini lecturers are expected to teach through Moodle platform but little is known about their use and development of the platform. The patriarchal nature of the Swazis, places men at an advantage of control over resources;a situation which relegates females to a minority status.What remains unknown though is how the patriarchal Swazi culture affects equal access to and use of handheld digital tools. Here I made examples of smartphones, tablets and laptops to design material and teach online; a gap which my study seeks to address
